Mission: In the Dark

"......so the new squadron XO you think she's up for the task?" Carter asked taking a sip of his whiskey this was the first time that him and Elar had served together but they had known each other OCS.

Elar just shrugged, "don't know but I needed to pick one. The paper work alone was killing me. And she seemed like one of the female Marines that needed to be pushed into a deep end to learn. Plus I needed to wipe that ideological nonsense out of her mind."

Carter just laughed, "well outside of flying that is one thing you're really good at." As he raised his glass to get another round.

Finishing his whiskey off he raised his glass as well. "I rather have them hate me than have their damn heads in the clouds." Elar said nodding to the bar keep who poured them their next round. "How's that squid doing?"

"You mean our chief flight logistics officer." Carter looked at Elar never realizing that he wasn't a fan of their naval counterparts. "She's cable and her being a Vulcan helps when it comes to getting the supplies." Carter said with a smile, "now in all seriousness what's your deal with squids?"

Elar just shook his as he took another sip of his whiskey. "That my friend is a long story and for another time. For now we need to get these pilots up to my level of flying and dogfighting. That battle with the Romulans proved we weren't ready."

"I agree -- speaking of I just got word from Bellerophon all the updates to the HUD and flight control are finally done. I mean that makes the bird all the more powerful but like you said we need to get those pilots well trained especially that SXO." Carter said finishing off his drink.

Elar did the same finished off his drink, "tomorrow 0800 we'll continue our work on the live fire exercises." Carter just nodded and with that the two left the bar and headed back to the Vindicator.
