Mission: In the Dark
Location: Vindicator Camp

Neyes rubbed the sides of his neck as he threw his dirty uniform jacket on the small bed in his 'quarters'. The little bed wouldn't have been so bad, but the room itself was a little more than a closet. A hull bulkhead crossed the ceiling, which arched downward until it met with the floor next to the bed. Entirely, the room was about 8 square meters. It was a runabout, and the sonic shower wasn't being used by anyone else. The creature comforts themselves, however small, were a welcome respite after the incident with the Noturan creature.

"Computer begin Captain's log, stardate 241402.15.

"Our camp had a rough encounter with a native animal this evening. I may ask science to review the data on it, if we have time. More notably, our new Marine commander ordered a fire on the creature in anticipation of an attack. I don't disagree with why she made the order, but I'm concerned she's got the same forthright and 'gun-ho' attitude Captain King was so well entrenched in. If she's not able to think before an action, always seeing things in black and white, I'm worried about the future of the Marines on Vindicator. Maybe it was a good idea during the war...

"I don't know. Rochelle seems distant, she's always thinking about something, but won't seem to open enough to tell me what. I don't think it's related to the mission, and I can't be sure. It hasn't effected her work yet, and I won't engage on the subject until it does. She's a smart women, though, and she knows I know something is bothering her.

"My hope is the Noturan delegation will come to meet us in the morning. The mining team will set their destination to the mines, to evaluate the crude matter. Unless the Noturans have any objections, and my Diplomatic team will go to the main city. Let's hope they arrive quickly. The last thing I need is for something else to come out of the woods.
