Mission: In the Dark
Location: Various locations

"Ma'am we still have the security team out there and they're running out of time!" Jax said, "we need to get back out there."

Indys knew he was right but the weather wasn't cooperating at the moment. "Private how effective do you think you'll be at finding anyone in the dark in a snow storm?" The frustrated Androian asked, "it'll be better if we wait until morning to head out and look for them again. The commander is a smart man I'm sure he'll find a place where he and his team can hunker down."

Caldwell lead the team into what seemed like an abandoned cave. They sloshed through the snow and endured the harsh winds until they were able to get inside. "This is not good, but it may be suitable until we can be rescued." He took his tricorder and scanned a large rock near the entrance.

Nodding approvingly, he took his phaser and fired for a few moments at the rock. It began to glow and emit heat. "This should help, at least for a little while."

With that Indys went in search of Jasmine she needed to speak with her. "Corporal how's the science officer doing?"

"Cold and bit shaken of being lost but is calming down. And our medic says she'll be fine. She's hooked up to a IV giving her warm saline to get her core temp back up." D'Saish said.

"Good question her and see if she can remember where the last location they were. Or even better see if she has her tricorder with her." Indys said. D'Saish just nodded and headed off to do exactly that.

"Lieutenant may I come in?" A soft voice asked from the outside of the tent. "It's corporal D'Saish." She added quickly.

Saia was sitting up on the bed hugging her legs holding her blanket tight around her and wrinkling her nose at the IV cord in her arm. However, she seemed content to to as she was told and stay on the bed. Her eyes stared toward some random spot on a ground as she worried herself trying to figure out what went wrong and what she could have done to help it. Hearing the voice she nodded, "Yes."

"How are you feeling lieutenant?" D'Saish asked.

"Have the others been found?" She didn't mean disrespect by dodging the question and the guilt and worry were etched on her face as clearly as her Trill spots. She simply didn't care how she was at the moment. The others could be dead and it was because she didn't have her tricorder secured to her arm. They have little hand lanyards for that, but for some reason they are rarely used. She should have used it. She felt responsible for losing them.

"No not yet.......and that's why I came I need to see your tricorder.......or hope you remember anything of the area you were in?" D'Saish asked.

A deep pout came to her mouth as she looked away shamefully, "It's in the snow out there somewhere. It wasn't working that well anyway, but it could have picked them up..." She took a deep sigh realizing that now wasn't the time to vent her regret and what could have been how she preferred it. Now she had to help them find her comrades. "There wasn't anything too discernibly distinguishing about it. We could see the mountain range to our left, so we were traveling North, until the snow storm. We were climbing up a tree and...." She sighed, "I passed out and woke up being pulled out by Qip."

"Okay.....no that's good I can use that. Stay here and rest up." D'Saish said walking out of the tent and to the main compound area. Looking around she needed help from one of the natives and their maps.

Saia sighed closing her eyes. She was exhausted but that was always the case. She always felt more restless than exhausted, but she followed the orders and stayed put.

"Always so helpless. Always weak." The haunting voice was followed by a menacing cackle and Saia buried her face in her knees so not to look toward what wasn't there.

K`Tal Wesh was young, naive and new to this game. The detail was an honor, one he looked forward to carrying out, but curiosity often took advantage of his youth and spun him out of control. The Star Fleet officers, especially the marines, intrigued him. The fact that women had any power at all beyond bearing children and cooking food was still something he couldn't quite wrap his head around. They appeared strong and intelligent, threatening everything his race had been taught about members of the fairer sex regardless of race.

"Uh..." He called out in babble as the tall blue Andorian walked past him. His eyes followed the growths protruding from her head on down to her feet. A strange creature. Delightful, really. "Can I help you?" He was, after all, a young ambassador of his race. This was permitted, or so he argued well within himself. At least she wasn't the red Commander.

This was the first time for Indys dealing with the Noturans, "do you know how to read your maps?" Indys asked looking at the young Noturan.

Wesh blinked. It seemed like a redundant question to him, maybe women really were as unintelligent as the head masters had made out. "Well, yeah. What are you looking for?"

"The mountains the east......are there any caves that can be used for cover if someone or a group of people get caught out in a storm?" But it would have to be within a 2 square miles of the camp." Indys added.

"Two square mi..." Wesh shook his head and looked at the map with a slight sigh. Star Fleet and their ridiculous units of measurement barely made any sense to him. "There's a few shallow cut outs in the sandstone buttes close to your encampment. No real caves in that general area, at least not within the distance you're suggesting."

"Are these cut outs deep enough for a group of people to take shelter in?" Indys asked.

"Yeah. Several people." Wesh replied and tilted his head, "Why do you ask? Is there a problem the delegation should be aware of?"

"Okay your coming with me and my team." Indys said nodding for him to follow.

After several moments of being tormented by her ghost, she pushed the covers off and looked around for some sort of console. She moved over to the closest she saw and tried to pull up any science data. She then remembered that they kept the mobile consoles limited to what their purpose was and there was no networking among them here. She put on her jacket and ventured out to go to the science tent. That is until she felt the sting of the IV coming out of her arm. She pursed her lips as she was sobered in her panic at the moment. She could put it back in, and they'd never know. Of course, if asked what she was doing out of the tent, she could just say that the IV went out when she tried to adjust her blanket. She shook her head not knowing why it was a big deal to just say she needed to get to work. Either way, she made her way toward the science tent in her winter planet gear.
