FOREWORD
CO
Why hello there and welcome to the first installment of SIM Reports hosted by your new Command Team. From here on out logging schedules and rules are going to apply and stick as we move forward and into the future. We have a lot in store for you. Contests, live action away team missions... you name it. Expect the best! As always, your suggestions are extremely welcome and wanted.

XO
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I’m Amy. If you spend any time on IRC, you’ve probably encountered me with the nick Zola or Pond. I’m responsible for the characters Zola and Amelia Waterhouse. NPCs will likely follow given not much time. I am your new XO, and I am here to help you log.
We have a lot of goose eggs in the log counts for this reporting period, but we understand that with the way the plot stands currently, it can be a little challenging to find something to do. This is what the command staff is here for. If you ever find yourself unsure what to log, or you’re looking for someone to log with, reach out to us and ask for help. I am always available to log with, so please let me know if you need a joint log.
To also assist with this, October and I are going to make an effort to keep the mission notes in the Nova updated with the most current information, to make it easier for you to log in and write a log that is helpful to the plot and not having to worry about if your schedule will mesh with ours in order to seek help. We also intend to start making the SIM reports a once a logging period thing, to make it easier for all of you to stay current with what’s happening, even when you may not have time to read all the logs that are getting released by your crew mates. The goal is to release them the Sunday after the logging period ends.
We’ve had a lot of stuff going through the news post section of the Nova, which really should only be used by Command staff for stuff that affects the whole SIM. For example, we should be getting excusal requests sent directly command@vindicator.ucip.org. So we’re going to change the permissions on the Nova so that only command staff can post news items now. If you have something you think is important enough for news, please contact the command staff and request they post it on your behalf.
One other change that probably won’t affect many of you: We’re going to stop using the personal log system. If you have a personal log you wish to post, please use the mission log format, and include personal log in the title of the log. We’ll also be adjusting the permissions on the Nova to back up this change.
I look forward to logging with all of you, and I’ve greatly enjoyed logging with all of you I’ve had the chance to so far.

PLOT
SUMMARY
A quick recap of the existing plot, to make sure everyone’s on the same page:
Notura has applied to join the Federation, and the USS Vindicator was dispatched to look into their application. This was before hostilities broke out between the Federation council and Starfleet.
Notura has an organic energy source that appears to be similar to plutonium or uranium, and they’ve offered it to the Federation in order to encourage the acceptance of their world for membership. They are warp capable, but they limit the use of all technology to only government use, all others are banned from using any technology. The society is governed by men, and women are treated as little more than breeding stock.
Trouble starts almost immediately when the away team is attacked by a horde of giant animals, then part of the team gets lost in an avalanche, and Commander Rochelle Ivanova has been taken captive. Captain Landon Neyes went alone to search for Commander Ivanova, despite protests of security and his yeoman. The away team has been recovered, but Ivanova and Neyes are still missing in action.

MISSION BRIEFING
Currently, we’re in the process of wrapping up the plot, so please prepare to depart this frozen hunk of rock and look forward to a new plot after some much needed R’n’R. Medical staff, be prepared to log with Ivanova upon her recovery from the surface. Everyone on the ship, feel free to log reactions to our unexpected drop into atmosphere (see the recent logs titled ‘Don’t Worry, I’ll Never Let You Fall’, and ‘The Dish Ran Away with the Spoon’).

ROSTER
CHANGES
As we are just starting up SIM reports again, we are skipping the roster changes section this report period.

LOG COUNTS
Log counts are not being reported this period due to technical issues.
