Physical Description Kara has a slender, athletic built, kept in top condition through frequent exercise and conscientious dietary choices. She wears her hair in a simple regulation ponytail, and maintains a neat but practical appearance, often pushing the limits of the Starfleet dress code in the interests of comfort and functionality, but never breaking them.

She and her twin brother each have half of a yin-yang symbol tattooed on the inside of their left wrist, which is completed (though hidden) when the twins grasp each other by the forearm. Kara's tattoo is broken by a scar that she chose not to have healed, as it would have partially erased her half of the symbol.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Takara is ambitious, driven, and too smart for her own good. Once she sets her mind to something, she achieves it, either through force of will and determination, or resourcefulness and ingenuity. She is not afraid to make use of the advantages and privileges available to her, but she is also no stranger to hard work, and takes pride in her solo achievements - though does not allow herself to see asking for or needing assistance as a failure. She can be combative, and argumentative, particularly when she is certain she is factually or morally correct, but has learned how far is too far when it comes to pushing that avenue.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: Takara is driven, resourceful, and highly intelligent. She performs well under pressure, and particularly well in formal assessments - much to the dismay of her less academically-minded twin. Despite this, Takara values consistent competence over isolated milestones, and prefers to "perfect" her current skill set before advancing on to something new.

Weaknesses: Kara can be a perfectionist, to a detrimental extent. She sometimes dedicates too much focus to her studies and career, at the expense of her personal life. She is not antisocial, but she does often forget to be social. Much of the reason her diet and fitness regime is so structured and regimented is to ensure that she takes proper care of herself without getting distracted.
Ambitions To equal (or exceed) her father. Takara idolised her oft-absent father during her childhood, and while as an adult she is less blindly enamoured with him, she does still regard him as a benchmark for her own success, and has naturally gravitated towards similar areas of Starfleet.
Hobbies & Interests None.

Personal History Takara and her twin brother Alexander were born aboard the USS Edison, a Galaxy-class starship, in 2381. Though the family stayed together during their infancy, the twins and their mother relocated to Earth once they entered education. Their father took a posting at Starfleet Tactical in the hopes of being able to remain close, but his obligations caused him to be frequently absent, and after the formation of UCIP in 2392, Starfleet's need for senior officers elsewhere ultimately outweighed any familial concessions.

The twins were actively discouraged from joining Starfleet by their mother, herself a former Lieutenant; but when she died in 2401, the twins decided that Starfleet Academy represented their best opportunity to move forward with their lives and - at first, at least - do so together. While Alexander had inherited their mother's technical prowess, Takara gravitated towards piloting and tactical, passions she had inherited from her father. Her goal, she decided, was to qualify as a fighter pilot, and secure a billet aboard her father's starship. Ultimately she succeeded, though she learned a few difficult lessons about arrogance and humility along the way. Though proud to have her aboard, her father was also determined to avoid any appearance of favouritism or nepotism - for her sake more than his - which placed a certain strain on their relationship.

Kara served aboard the USS Orion for over a decade, remaining aboard even after her father was promoted to a position within the Admiralty. Though undeniably a skilled pilot, Takara demonstrated little interest or drive towards greater seniority, and never progressed past Squadron Leader. After a period of soul searching and contemplation, she realised flight operations was not the correct career path for her and, like her father had done forty years before, applied to Starfleet Academy for retraining as a Tactical Officer.

In 2419, Kara transferred to the USS Vindicator.
