Carrie yawned, and rubbed her eyes, stopping at the entrance of the medical office. She lifted her arms up and leaned her upper body to the left, then to the right, then backwards and forward, stretching her spine and opening her chest. "Ah," she finished with a satisfied smile, oblivious to the odd looks from the two nurses who took a break from their sandwiches to stare at her.

"Good morning," she greeted, and walked to the replicator for a cup of coffee.

Jennifer Waters had managed to find time to finally get to Sickbay and have her physical to see how things were going. The young engineer hadn't been putting it off on purpose, stuff just kept getting in the way which had to stop her child needed to come first and for most from now on. Stepping into sickbay Jenny looked around wondering if she hadn't come at a bad time...

"Good morning," Carrie repeated, this time holding a cup of steaming coffee, and facing the outward direction of the office door. The infirmary was mostly quiet this morning, and Carrie could hear the swooshing of the doors as the (seemingly very-very) pregnant woman walked in, an image that brought a smile to Carrie's delicate face.

"Wow, you're big. I guess I have an answer as to what you're here for." She attempted a joke, a feat she rarely noticed went foul, and usually did.

Jenny, sweet nature, that she was didn't think that the CMO had meant to insult her with he comment so instead she let it slide. "Yes I'm assuming that I'm getting close to maternity leave, but I haven't had time to confirm or not."

Carrie blinked, "you didn't get checked up until now??" she put her cup on the first cart she saw and gestured at the biobed in the nearest checkup alcove, "there seems to be a trend on this ship to neglect medical check ups," she muttered, turning on the equipment in dismay, "was your last Doctor a Mugato poisoned warrior or something?"

"No no the last CMO did check me over when I first learned I was pregnant. after all he told me I was pregnant." She smiled softly. "but it has been a while since my last check up I just haven't found the time." Jenny admitted.

Carrie shook her head in dismay.

"You found the time to get pregnant, one would think you'd find the time to check the result up," she admonished with a certain amount of distress, and gestured at the bio bed. "Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?"

"No I want to be surprised." Jenny said, "And to be quite frank this child wasn't exactly planned. so your getting up in arms about it is unnecessary. I'm here now to check on the condition of my baby." Jenny said arching one brow after sitting on the bio-bed.

"An understatement," Carrie muttered and turned on the scanning apparatus. "Try to stay still, let's take a look, here," she waited for the image to appear, a smile spreading across her face. Babies always made her smile.

At least, quiet babies made her smile. "Would you like to see your baby?" She glowed, whatever annoyance she held over the tendency to dislike doctors completely dissipating.

"Yes. Is it healthy?" Jenny asked worry actually in her voice as she hoped fervently that her child was healthy with all 10 fingers and toes.

Carrie had to bite her lip before she would accidentally reveal the baby's gender. She turned her attention to the scanner and nodded, "there is a slight vitamin deficiency, but nothing that can't be fixed with some boosters to your diet. Are you ready for the due date? Your quarters were enhanced with all the appropriate equipment, I assume?"

"Um I still have to talk to the quarter master. I was planning on doing it soon. I'm not as busy at work now actually I think the CEO might have put me on maternity leave." Jenny said. "I need to talk to my husband as well. when is my baby due?"

Carrie simply stared at the young woman. "You are aware there's a little creature growing inside that," she pointed at Jenny's belly, "and that it will need to come out of there. Quite very soon. And it moves.. and.. cries.. and.. and poops. A lot." She shook her head in dazed concern.

Was this woman really so unprepared? Where the hell was the previous Doctor! Carrie wasn't sure if she should be distressed, sympathetic, or incredibly angry at whoever served as the previous USS Vindicator Chief Medical Officer.

"I'm going to include new orders in your file," she muttered eventually, still not quite settled on which feeling to pick. "You are now officially on reduced load work, and if your chief or the quartermaster make any sort of problems with regards to baby-related equipment, you send them to me." She shook her head and tapped her PADD. "Preferably with their full battle gear on, so I can toss them out the nearest airlock," she muttered and handed the woman her instructions PADD.

Jenny actually giggled. "I have all the equipment doctor, it just needs to be moved to the new quarters. I am fully aware of what is growing inside of me and what the child requires. I have every intention of being a good mother even if I am getting a some what late start. Exactly how soon is she or he making an appearance?" She asked feeling it kick at that precise moment. "Oh it kicked!" Jenny said excitedly moving Doctor Rofer's hand over the spot where the child kicked again.

Carrie gave her a sidelong look. "Good, because their appearance is too close for comfor-- aw," she smiled and put her scanner down, gesturing at the woman's belly. "May I?"

"Yes." Jenny said with a smile, "he or she's been doing that a lot lately kicking at odd moments." Jenny admitted.

Carrie smiled and leaned closer to feel for the kicks, her face lighting up with a smile. After a short moment, she got up and nodded. "You have a very healthy baby, Lieutenant Waters. I've updated your file with the new orders, in case any of your superiors feel the need to doubt your..." she gestured at Jenny's belly, "... condition."

"Yeah I don't think anyone doubts my condition, when is my due date?" She asked needing to confirm it. her hands protective over her extended belly.

Carrie referred to her scanner again, shaking her head sideways thoughtfully, "I'd say you have about two weeks. Three at most, if your baby insists on being stubborn." She flipped the scanned closed and smiled, "I'd say you still have a little time to prepare."

Jenny gave a nod and a smile happily. "Thank you." She smiled at Carrie still glowing from her pregnancy. "Then I will see you in a week for another check up?" Jenny asked softly.

Carrie nodded. "Yes. I'll set up the appointment now so there are no more .. delays." She let out a brief smirk and tapped the PADD. "See you both in a week!"

"See you in a week Doc, I'll try and get Hayden to join us." She smirked.

Carrie nodded, smiled, and walked towards her office.
