Mission: Secret Meetings
Location: Flight Operations

=/\= Deck 4, Flight Ops, USS Vindicator =/\=

Carter was sitting at one of the desks with his feet up looking over a PaDD mainly schedules of repairs. And a heads up on the pilots he would have to watch out for ie the trouble makers. "Lieutenant Howard come to flight ops at your earliest availability."

Good thing she was available having already worked on her bird so she didn't have anything else to do just yet. She made her way to the flight Ops wondering if she had done something wrong... well she'd find out soon enough...

"Lieutenant sit." Carter said standing up and looking at the lieutenant, "are you a hot head?" Carter asked point blank he wasn't exactly known for compassion or even tactfulness.

"I tend to be yes." Lynda said after sitting down with a shrug not caring for his tactless remarks.

Carter was about to do his whole spiel when Elar's voice came over the comm, "Carter your spiel is gonna have to wait I need Howard and I need to get red flight out into space." And before Carter could complain Howard was up and leaving.

Well that was awkward. Lynda covered her mouth to keep from laughing. Well she may have gotten a reprieve for now but when whatever Elar needed her for was over she had a feeling that Carter was going to let her have it.

Once Howard was down on the flight, "alright we need to scan the remnants of the exploded runabout. Which means I'll be scanning them and you'll be watching my back. While I relay the data to Lione in TiC. Copy?"

"Copy that." Lynda said making her way bird and starting the launch sequence and powering it up.

"R-02 you've got the green light to launch." Carter said into the comm system as all of her checks popped up green. "Happy flying." He said to all pilots even the ones he disliked or thought were reckless.

"Lets rock -n- roll!!" Lynda loved launching from the catapult launch and rolled her bird once launched "Woohooo!!"

"R-01 you're showing green across the board happy flying." Carter said again grinning knowing every time the captain lunched out of the tubes he reverted back to a child.

"Whoo!!!! Shit that's exhilarating!!!" Elar said over the comm as he collected himself and re-orinated himself and got himself in position to head into the debris field, "R-02 keep a distance of .5 clicks."

Lynda grinned getting her ship .5 clicks "Roger R-01."

"Overwatch you copy?" Elar said speaking about Tripae in the TiC.

"Lour and clear R-01.....I'm also picking up scans crystal clear." Tripae said nodding to the acting captain, "captain......."

The Trill Commander had entered the TiC after a short rest. Even a small bit of rest had managed to bring back the purpose he knew the Vindicator needed. A dispatch wing had been sent to investigate the remains of the wreckage left behind by the Aegis and the supposed Vanguard runabout. They had yet to identify the mysterious runabout, and Ivanova didn't have the answers he needed...

Neyes turned, his young features lit with a new fire, as he addressed the Marine Captain. "Captain." A thin smile appeared as he walked with purpose toward the main screens. Their massive size made it easy for him to see the entire scene as the fighters approached. "Have we detected any other activity in the area? No other surprises I should be aware of? I'd hate to see us get caught with our pants down."

"No sir.....it's been all quiet on the western front." Tripae said smirking at the reference and wondering if the Trill would get it.

He eyed the details of the screens, as well as the cockpit cams of the pilots. "Can you confirm the runabout was Vanguard?"

"This is R-01......this is definitely a Vanguard design.......so yes I've confirmed that this is indeed a Vanguard runabout." Elar said running another sensor sweep.

"Ms. Lione. Commander Ivanova said the shuttle self destructed, could the runabout have been carrying enough explosives to seriously damage the Vindicator if it hadn't been intercepted?" Neyes was hesitant to accept the notion that it was simply going to run down the largest vessel in Stafleet, only to pop uselessly off her shields. If the terrorists wanted to do damage, real damage, they were certainly going to have to be a hell of a lot more creative than ramming a tiny runabout bomb down their throat.

"If these scans are correct there was no explosives at all." Tripae said sounding confused, "R-01......run that scan in sectors 3, 5 and 9 again." Tripae said.

"Copy that Overwatch.....running scans now." Elar said adjusting his fighter again to hit those sectors a second time.

"Yup scans are coming back again no signs of explosives anywhere." Tripae said looking at Neyes.

Neyes hadn't actually taken too much time when he held the Chief Flight Control Officer position to get to know Lione, and found himself wishing he'd spent a little more time with the marine pilots. They had a culture all to themselves, and for just a moment, he wondered what his life had been like if he'd taken up combat flight rather than the officer track. It would have certainly altered his perception of marines, if not for the better. A quick second passed as his brow pressed down again, his mind racing to try and seize the opportunity to crack whatever mystery this little Vanguard ship had held.

"Assessment, Marine Captain? What do you make of it." He asked, tearing his eyes away from the viewers to look her in the eyes.

"I think there was a part 2 to this......and either the arrival of the two in sickbay destroyed the plan outright, altered it or phase 2 hasn't even begun yet." Tripae said, "now my question to you......." she said hesitating slightly before asking it, "is there anything that you're with holding from the crew?"

Lynda knew how to be serious and well this was one of those times you don't act like you're invincible. "Holding back huh? What's going on? Who's holding back what?"

"R-02 you're holding back stay away from the debris field if anything goes south you're my cover to allow me out of this debris field." Elar said shaking his head seeing as it was the simplest Marine set-up.

"Oh Roger for just a second I had a blond moment and thought someone was talking about holding back on info!" She admitted with a giggle having heard 'with holding' instead of 'hold back'. "Sorry Elar, I've got your back sugar."

What in the hell was this women thinking. "R-02 get your act together or land that bird. You use the right designation when speaking over the comm and I swear to god if I hear another giggle Ill pull your wings off you so fast you won't know what happened." Elar said in a low growl before realizing that Overwatch could hear them.

"Roger R-01." Came Lynda's only reply and it was in neutral tones rather then the icy cold one she wanted to use. She made sure she was in the right position for where she needed to be.

Elar just shook his head, "Overwatch are we good or you need more?"

Neyes looked to the young marine Captain as the pilots bickered amongst themselves, their voices becoming a turning white-noise in the background. "Bring in the fighters, but I'd like a CAP in the immediate area at all times until we're ready to get back under way." He addressed Lyone, "As for what I'm holding back... I don't keep secrets very well, Lyone. I certainly wouldn't need to in the first place if people would stop keeping them from me."

Landon's temper had been replaced with a stern resolve. He needed to speak with Ivanova about the new events that had unfolded. Hopefully Ellis and the rest of his goons would be able to track down the so-called intruders, then Neyes would finally be able to squeeze some information out of them. It all felt like it was hanging on a knife edge, and they were all just waiting for events to fall one way or the other.

"The Vangaurd hasn't posed a serious threat to us for months. I'd be surprised if they had any sort of real strength, and I'd be lying if I said I was all that concerned about a rag-tag bunch of over-zealous leftovers." Neyes winked at Tripae as he moved to leave. "Bring them home, Captain. Thank you for your input."
