Mission: In the Dark
Location: Bridge, Main Engineering

Having reported the problem to Engineering, Caldwell patiently waited a few seconds for someone down there to respond.

"Commander Dahe'el to Caldwell, you reported a problem on one of the torpedo launchers, could you be a little more specific regarding the problem? Have you begun the diagnostic subroutines?" the Cardassian replied as he sat in his office, feet up on the desk as he relaxed.

Caldwell groaned with frustration as his attempts to work the console grew more and more futile. "I attempted to send a command to the torpedo tube, but it is not acknowledging the command, nor responding to it. I tried to use the secondary command processor, but it gives the same result."

"Have you begun the diagnostic subroutines?" Almar replied as he swung his feet off the desk and moved over to one of the monitors on the wall of his office, "I would remind you Commander that you have your own cadre of tactical systems specialists, generally Engineering only steps in when there are structural problems involving the launchers and their mounts."

"Understood, Commander." He watched as a subroutine began to display information. "It appears as if there is a problem in the ODN relay."

Sighing slightly, the Cardassian bought up the diagnostics on his monitor and identified the problem in the Optical Data Network, "It would seem you are correct Commander, It appears that the problem is located between the bridge and the junction on deck 7," he replied with a slight smile as he reached over and picked up his tool kit, "I don't have any repair teams on hand, they're currently working on other projects, but I will take a look for myself, would you care to monitor my progress from there?"

"Thank you, Commander. That will be fine." He looked down at the console once more. "Please let me know what you need me to do."

"It will take a few minutes for me to arrive at the junction, but for now could you begin re-routing the pathways away from that ODN point and redirect the power into the non-essential systems, that will mean I can get to work as soon as I arrive." the Cardassian replied as he stepped out of Engineering and towards the turbolift.

Caldwell nodded: "Aye" He opened the panel beneath his console and began to reroute the necessary pathways and to clear the load from that ODN. After a few moments, he replied over the comm: "The ODN is no longer live, Commander."

"I'm nearly there," the Cardassian replied with a slight smile to himself as he rounded the corner and arrived at the junction, "I'm opening up the panel," he added as he pressed on a combination of buttons, he hefted the panel as it came away and laid it to one side, "Right, I have three junctions, can you identify which one it is on the diagram?"

Matt looked at the station. "It appears to be Junction Alpha 255 Tango"

"Right," Almar replied as he pulled out a couple of tools and laid them out as he slid his head inside the panel opening, "Oh yes, I can certainly see the problem," he added as his eyes were drawn to a burnt out ODN junction, the obvious cause of their problems, "It's burnt out, I'll get on to replacing it," he stated before double tapping his comm badge, "Francis, get down to the replicators and get me an ODN junction, bring it up to deck 7, thanks."

"Thank you, Commander for your assistance. I'll let you know if I have further trouble with it." Caldwell replied.
