Mission: Are You Touched?
Location: Deck 6 Quarters 39
Timeline: Before leaving the shipyards

"Robyn!...Hey ROBYN!"

She looked back over her left shoulder and saw a dark haired man in casual civilian clothes sprinting along the corridor towards her.
He grinned as she turned to face him and he watched her inquisitive expression alter to surprise then to obvious pleasure as she recognised him. He came to halt in front of her and before she could say a single thing, lifted her off her feet in a firm hug, spun her half a circle and set her down again.

"Scott!...where did 'you' come from?" she asked looking up into his face, laughing as she spoke. "It's so good to see you."

"I can say the same." he replied stepping back and holding her at arms length. "You look really good."

"Thankyou." she answered as he let her go and glanced at a couple of officers walking past who had slowed to stare at the young couple.

"Seriously. What are you doing here? I had no idea you were coming." she asked still smiling with pleasure at seeing him again.

He let go his hold of her. "I didnt know myself until the last minute." he explained. " I was expecting to board the Vespertine but orders were changed....'Medical Officer Vindicator..so here I am. I checked the medical crew list on arrival and discovered you were here too."

The fact that he was as pleased as she to meet up again was clear.
They had met at the Academy where they soon discovered mutual interests and a similar sense of humour. They shared the pitfalls and successes of their studies and exams, enjoyed their free time with other friends or sometimes alone and had parted company on taking up differing postings for their post grad year, she to a Lunar Hospital and he to a hospital base at Utopia Planitia.

"Where are you staying?" she asked.
"Just along here..about five doors down." he replied, pointing along the corridor.
"Near me then." she said and they set off together arriving a few moments later at her door. She tapped in the code, the door slid open and she warned him to :
"Please mind the crates...come in, come in."

She led the way into the main room and headed towards the replicator. Scott followed, eyeing the crates as he passed them.
"If you've only recently arrived how come you're on duty?" he asked.

"I volunteered." she replied and grinned as he said: "Aha..getting into CMO's good books are we?"

"Not at all." she said with a tone of great innocence then:
" I went to report in and found him running an inventory so offered to help. It gave me an excellent opportunity to have a look around and inventories are tedious tasks arent they? Better with help."

Scott nodded agreement having done the job himself. "What's he like? Klingon? Rotek? right?"

"Yes. He's ok, a bit quiet and he's new to the ship too."

"Ha! a quiet Klingon...that makes a change!"
Robyn laughed too understanding that Scott referred to a Klingon they both knew who was anything but quiet.

"Seriously though, " Scott said " ...we have some catching up to do.Why not forget whatever it is you're planning on replicating and lets go out for something to eat..what do you say?"

"Okay." came her happy prompt reply. " But let me just get out of this...." she added intent on changing from her uniform into something more suitable.
" ...won't be a sec."

Scott, who knew full well that any woman takes longer than 'a sec' to get changed, seated himself on the arm of the sofa, reached down to pick up the Information Padd lying on the coffee table and prepared for a long wait. He began to scroll down it.

"So how come you havent unpacked yet? It's not like you to be disorganised." he said loud enough for her to hear in the next room.

"Oh I have unpacked..." came the disembodied voice "..at least my clothes this time. I had it all set out but had to repack it."

"Why was that?" Scott asked skimming over information on the layout of Deck 8.

Robyn replied:
"I came home last night and found a man in my bedroom, in the dark, going through my clothes."

Scott looked up suddenly, concern both in his voice and his expression as he called. " Are you ok?"

"Oh yes" came the reply. " It was all an error which the Quartermaster eventually sorted out. Correct room number, wrong deck. I was in his quarters but he let me stay where I was and move this morning."

"That was good of him." Scott said, his attention back on the padd.

"Yes it was. Lieutenant Novak....Henry I think"
Her voice had grown louder as she appeared in the doorway.

She was dressed simply in jeans and a pale green shirt whose sleeves ended at her elbows. A plain silver chain around her neck matched one at her wrist and it caught the light at her throat when she moved. Her shining hair, released from its clip, hung to her shoulders and her lips, coated in pale coral, smiled to him.
There was nothing at all special in her dress but Scott was struck by how attractive she looked.

Robyn turned her head to the left and observed him sideways on. "Ok?" she asked wondering why he was staring at her.

"Yes." he replied. "You look lovely...really you do." he added when her expression told him she thought he teased.
She retrieved a pair of shoes kicked beneath a side table and slipped her slender feet into them. "Thankyou" she replied.

"What about this place?...." Scott said consulting the padd. "....After Dark Lounge....serves bar snacks, gourmet meals and just about everything in between. Recently refurbished too."

The name rang a warning bell for Robyn then the oily haired, thin face of Norbert Bernard materialised in her minds eye.
"Most of the ship has been refurbished!" she quipped thinking with distaste of the man she hoped to avoid.

"Doesn't it appeal?" Scott asked sounding a bit disappointed.

{He's the manager..he wont be there serving meals} Robyn told herself and Norberts face faded away.

"Ofcourse it does...if you think I'm fit for it." she replied spreading her hands wide as if to display her outfit.

Scott got to his feet, dropped the padd onto the sofa cushions and crossed the distance to her.
"I told you, you look lovely." he said "I mean it."

Colour tinged her cheeks a little and she looked down at her shoes feeling suddenly tremendously happy.

"Actually I have something to tell you.." she said as they moved towards the door. " I met this dreadful man on the transport here...you wouldnt believe how he behaved..."
