1,886 words; about a 9 minute read

Mission: A Spot To Kill
Location: Holodeck Two

Chloe's weapon went from rested to ready in a second the Jackson twins and Lt(Jg) Blackwood followed suit weapons at the ready in case whomever was on the opposite side was hostile or not. "Get behind us." She told the engineers, hitting her comm-badge. "Delta team to Security. in the process of opening door into the fighter launch bay, we've got incoming on the other side please advise?" Chloe gave a bit of a status report and requesting orders.

Lily looked around the armoury, laying her eyes on the explosives locker. "Chief, is there anyway to set some of these explosives up as mines, to disorientate the boarders?" Lily asked.

"I guess we could enhance them to act as magnetic mines, we'd throw them and after a set time they would magnetize to the nearest bulkhead, setting a motion activated sensors after the fact would be quite easy, I'd suggest the flash and concussion." Rose replied.

"See to it Chief. Lieutenant Ebonheart, stand by, we're getting you some extra ordinance!" Lily said as she tapped her access code into the locker and took out 5 of the flash mines and 5 concussion mines.

The doors into the fighter launch bays cracked as they started to open, the air starting to rush for the opening. The two engineers finished their dash to get behind Ebonheart and her team.

"Now would be nice!" Chloe growled into the phone. "Computer emergency forcefields around the flight deck launch doors." Chloe told the computer hoping to prevent them from being sucked out into space as she back her team of engineers back her phaser ready to fire on any incoming enemies.

"Chief, how long?" Lily asked, as she tapped a few commands into her console. "Bridge, I need as much power to security forcefields as you can!" She said, then to the computer. "Computer, activate Security Forcefields around the flight deck!"

"Working with engineering to get you that power, Lieutenant," Thalla acknowledged as she poked at her PADD. "Reconfiguring shields at Delta team's location to resist depressurization in the meantime."

The doors finished opening and the shield shimmered to life as the first member of the enemy boarding parties hit it.

Chloe took the shot her weapon was set to high stun it should drop just about anything that walked through that door, and she didn't hesitate to protect those behind her. "Get back find cover!" She told the engineering team and security officers. John and Cabel each took a side of the room getting behind something giving Chloe cover fire so she could find a good place to get behind and keep from getting shot.

"Just a few minutes!" Rose replied as he cracked open the grenades and began fiddling with a set of tools that mysteriously appeared from his desk and into his hand, "Its quite a technical job, but should do nicely," he added as he set each grenade aside in turn as he finished the modifications.

As the Chief put each grenade aside, Lily put them into a small satchel, and when they were all one, she beamed them down to Lieutenant Ebonheart. "Lieutenant, the improvised devices should be with you now, do you need any more assistance?" Lily asked.

The PADD in Thalla's hand chirped for attention, and she looked at the readout. A cruse word slipped from her lips in Andorian, and she pressed a button to trigger Lily's combadge. "Internal sensors show that two of the access panels between the fighter bay and the jefferies tubes have been opened, and the boarders are moving into the Jefferies tubes. They're moving fast too, they look to be moving towards the access ports into the corridors behind delta Team."

"Delta, watch your rear, a few of the hostiles have utilised the access panels to circle around to try and flank you, I'm redirecting Bravo team to back you up!" Lily said, before tapping a few commands into her PADD, to raise shields to hinder the flanking boarders. "Lieutenant Zheer, keep an eye on the boarders progress, and keep me informed!"

"Working on it!" Chloe growled into the comms firing a few shots the enemy — forcing them to move or find cover — before moving low towards the bag fast, relying on John and Cabel to provide cover fire while she got the grenades. "How close are they!?" Chloe asked into the comm reaching into the bag for a grenade, setting it up before throwing it at the enemy; hoping to do some damage and wondering if she'd see them as she moved to the door to look into the corridor behind them.

"I've raised some shields to hinder them, but they're moving fast, they'll be on you within two minutes, Bravo is gearing up now, they'll be at least five minutes. Find cover if you can Lieutenant! Lieutenant Zheer, is there anything else we can do to delay them?" Lily asked.

"They seem to be ignoring the shields, they must have something that's disrupting them. The systems are functioning correctly as far the system diagnostics can tell. The access hatches into the corridor have opened, they shouldn't have been able to open that hatch that fast. Delta team should have visual contact now," Thalla provided the update. "I see a dozen life signs between the two tubes."

They had taken the best cover they could find to fight both ends. The second the feline officer saw someone enter the corridor at their backs, she started laying down cover fire to keep them from just rushing in. John and Cabel took turns with the enemies coming in through the flight gates, and Kris was keeping the Engineers covered and protected just in case.

Lily looked again to the chief. "Chief, any ideas that could help delta out?" Lily asked.

Chloe was too busy firing on the enemy to respond to anymore communications. She ducked down as phaser fire hit the containers she was hiding behind. Getting up, she moved to fire some more and took a phaser shot to the shoulder; it fried her combadge, making it impossible for her to respond now even as she tried not to hit the deck. She growled a feral sound as she returned fire before ducking back down.

"Jones to Delta, come in please?" Lily said. "Jones to bridge, I've lost contact with my team, are you getting any readings from down there?" Lily said, motioning for another Security team to start heading down to the Fighter bay, while gearing herself up with weapons.

"Sensors show phaser discharge, and unfriendly life signs surrounding Delta team," Thalla answered Charlson's request for data. As she spoke, she pulled up a video feed to see how Ebonheart and her team were doing. Under normal circumstances, such a feed would require a probe of some sort, or a person on the ground with a camera, so she didn't report what she saw to Charlson, but she did take note of the half Caitian officer's tactics. Might as well take advantage of the full capabilities of the holodeck to evaluate the team.

Chloe growled with one knee on the floor, her foot planted beside it, her gun pointing over the cargo container. She let loose rapid fire on the target.

"Dammit, they just keep coming!" John Jackson yelled, firing at another enemy coming through the flight gate, his back to Chloe.

"They have us pinned down." Chloe agreed, "My comm is damaged!" She told them.

Cabel tapped his combadge. "Delta team to security. We're pinned down, I repeat, We are Pinned down." Cabel gave the report as he covered, crouched down behind a console.

"Received Delta, support is on it's way. Hold them off for as long as you can!" She said into her combadge, before turning to the other teams. "Quickly, get down there, they need support!" Then into her combadge again. "Security to Bridge, be advised one of my officers is without a combadge at this time, and they are pinned down by boarders outside the hangar, they have support on the way to them!" Lily said.

"Hold them off they say, keep fighting they say. Great!" Chloe growled, firing at the enemy before turning and pressing her back to the container, looking around to see if there was another way out of this flight deck. "Dammit, there has to be another way to get through, to get around them and take them for surprise."

Just as the words were spoken, the air around the team rippled as three shapes appeared, Jem'Hadar shroud technology shut down to reveal their true enemy and they had the team surrounded, bladed weapons were produced and brandished in their direction, the Alpha stepped forward and aimed his polearm straight at Chloe.

"Crap," was all Chloe could say — they really were surrounded. She glared up at the Alpha, but held her hands up in surrender as she tried to think of how to get out of this without being stabbed or risking her team.

Moments before the weapon connected with the security officer, the simulation paused itself and the entire scene froze, Rose stepped through the wall with a PADD in his hand and offered his free hand to help Lieutenant Ebonheart to her feet, "Quite good for a first run of this simulation," he stated as the scene began to fade and revealed the hologrid, "It's one of the more... challenging ones I must say."

"I would have to agree, I've never known Jem'Hadar to cloak themselves until they were in position, then reveal themselves like that." Chloe smirked as Rose helped her to her feet. "A very very good program." She grinned knowing it was different than anything she's done so far.

Lily followed the Chief through the wall, before looking around at the scene. "Good work Lieutenant, sorry I couldn't help you any more than I could. And yes, I do agree, a very good program, I just hope it's not the hardest we'll have to face!" Lily said.

"I agree, but it does give us a better idea of the tactics that the Jem'Hadar might use." Chloe rubbed her neck.

Thalla followed behind the others, silently observing the conversation and taking notes on the interactions. The program had offered an unexpected challenge to the team, and she was glad to see they could work together under pressure. A look of satisfaction sat on her face as she lingered back.

"There are a few which will take a little more time before you're anywhere near ready to take them on," the greying Master At Arms replied with a sly smile as he handed a PADD to each of the officers involved, "Study and learn, these will also let you access the other programs of this level in the archives, make use of them alone or in groups, however you wish, but be warned, they are not for the faint of heart."

Chloe takes the PADD handed to her looking over the list.
