2,148 words; about a 11 minute read

Mission: Agua Mala
Location: Various locations

Trasnaine the genetically altered female Orion-Betazoid hybrid; the alterations were all genetic based no physical appearance was altered. Trasnaine didn't have the normal Orion pheromones so she was unable to put the spell over other non-Orion males as for the Betazoid side the empathic/telepathic gene was deactivated, or at least Wouyallath hoped it was. This was Wouyallath's only designer baby experiment on his own and truthfully he got very very lucky that Trasnaine survived. "Why don't we just clone specimen 804A21 you have plenty of genetic material to work from." Trasnaine suggested looking over to Wouyallath who was lost in thought looking at his work screen.

"Do you think we've time for that?!" Wouyallath shouted making Trasnaine shrink into her chair seeing as this truly was the first time she saw her creator/father figure loose emotional control. And for her this caused even more confusion as she understood Vorta were very similar to Vulcans in that they remain calm. "Apologies," Wouyallath said standing and walking over to the much taller Trasnaine, "I didn't mean to explode at you like that we......we just have/had a lot riding on this project."

Trasnaine flinched slightly as Wouyallath walked over and gently touched her shoulder, "it.....it's okay really. I.....I've just never seen you lose control like that." Wouyallath smiled and took a couple of steps bak stepping out of Trasnaine's personal bubble.

"It's been several yeas of not reporting to a Founder which is still stressful and now with doctor Llewellyn and the board breathing down my neck......." Wouyallath said sounding very very Human which had been happening for awhile.

Mean while on Cold Station Theta.........

A very dapper looking man wearing a all burgundy suit was in the only bar a very depressing bar he might add. Sipping on a dirty martini trying to figure out how to accomplish his next task luckily his benefactor from the MiLex group had ties within the Federation's Ministry of the Interior giving him orders to report to the Vindicator. Where he is to keep his cover search and acquiring new pieces of art while keeping an eye on a women named Teá Black.

Seeing as he got the orders straight from the ministry that meant that the command team of the Vindicator had also received the orders. The question was how to actually get in contact with them seeing as you couldn't just wander onto a Starfleet ship. Smirking as he re-read the orders seeing the that the executive officer shared the last name of one of his more useful intermediaries a Noah Waterhouse. Quickly sending a message off to Noah seeing if he could convince his relative to speak with him.

Noah strolled into the bar with a whistle on his lips, and his pirate hat perched upon his head. He'd visited it numerous times in the little while Vindicator had been docked, since his mother had arrived for the Enterprise and the Torchwood project — he shook his head at his parents lifting the project name from the old earth show — and she'd been insistent that her children spend time with her doing the thing she enjoyed most: drinking, telling tall tales, and finding bar fights. The last one hadn't happened because Admiral Red ran a tight station, and Noah could tell his mother was disappointed, and Pond was kept busy with XOly duties. This left Noah with the task of babysitting their mother and keeping her out of trouble.

Diziara was actually tied up with something involving the holographic pilot, so Noah was at the bar for other business. A man he'd crossed paths with more than a few times, though Noah never went out of his way to do so; Karl had a way of finding him. He spotted him at the bar, and made a beeline, waving down a bartender as he approached. A measure of Rum appeared on the bar, almost as if transported there, and Noah tipped his hat to the bartender he'd come to know so well in the short time he'd been here.

"I see the Flying Spaghetti Monster has seen fit to guide you well enough you're not in trouble with the law," Noah commented, and raised the glass to his lips.

"Have I even been in trouble with the law when I've called upon you?" Marsten asked preferring his last name raising his martini glass for the barkeep to get him another one. "And you.....last we did anything together you got me some of Nanpart Malor (Cardassian painter) art."

"No, you've always had your nose clean when we've met, but..." Noah shook his head and his glass in a disapproving manner. "Some of my friends have mentioned some of the things you've been up to, though I appreciate you taking time to mention I wasn't involved after name checking me. Wouldn't do to try to sully a minister of the pastafarian faith." He raised his glass in salute and took a drink. "I know my fair share of those who cross the line of legality, and I judge not as long as no harm comes to me and mine. What can I do for you today?"

"Much appreciated," Marsten said taking a sip of his drink, "and I have you know all members of any faith I keep them out of trouble." Marsten said giving him a small smirk, "anyways I need to get a meeting with the Vindicator's executive officer I believe she's related to you. A Amelia Waterhouse?" Marsten said giving him a the PaDD with the orders on it.

Noah accepted the PADD with a hum of curiosity, and skimmed the contents. He liked to think he made it look like his Dad did when the Admiral Waterhouse accepted orders on a PADD from an underling, but he couldn't help feeling like a little kid for trying. "Y'know you could have just called the Vindicator and arranged a meeting, right?" He chuckled, hiding behind his glass as he passed the PADD back to Karl.

"Could have, yes?" Marsten said with a chuckle, "but miss a potential chance to catch up with one of my better intermediaries within the art world?" He asked with a smile and sip of his drink.

"Flattery will get you nowhere, my friend," Noah returned with a wide grin. "I'm not putting in a good word for you with Pond, if that's what you're hopin' for. You'll have to depend on your own charming personality to get you through. Pond'll be the easy part though, watch out for the commodore. People usually underestimate her because she's petite, but she packs a lot of punch in her tiny frame."

Shrugging Marsten sipped on his drink as he listened to Noah, "All I need is a introduction. And I'll let the orders speak for themselves and the fact that Starfleet needs some good press right about now. And helping find pieces for art museums is a very easy way to get that."

"I had to fight to get Commodore Ivanova to respect me, and let me give you a tip," Noah emptied his glass, and stood up, laying a hand on Karl's shoulder as he did. "She'll respect you more if you just address her directly and respectfully, instead of depending on someone to help you. Good luck." With that, Noah tipped his hat and headed out of the bar again.

Marsten sighed as he pulled out his peculiar communication device seeing that the Vindicator was docked it made communications a bit easier seeing as all calls would be routed through the communications officer. "I'm Karl Marsten and I'm hoping to speak with a commander Waterhouse?"

"Let me see if-" the young woman started. Yeoman duPont leaned in and nodded his head to the communication's officer. "Just a moment sir," she said, glancing up from her console to raise an eyebrow at duPont as her fingers flicked across her controls to relay the call.

"Waterhouse here," Amelia said, after tapping her screen to accept the call.

"My name is Karl Marsten and I have orders from the Federation Ministry of the Interior." Marsten said sending the orders over, "they would like me to come aboard to help acquire art pieces for exhibits around the Federation."

Amelia quickly skimmed the orders. "I think everything is in order. You should probably check in with the Commodore before you come aboard, see if there's anything she needs from you before we can get you settled in."

"Of course," Marsten said, "where could I find the commodore?"

"Why don't I save everyone a little time, and see if she can take a call now. Hold a second," Amelia said, pausing only long enough to be sure that the man had heard her, then she put him on hold. Her fingers danced, and she popped open a channel to the ready room. "I've got a Karl Marsten on the com with orders from Ministry of the Interior, can I conference our call, so we can get him on board?"

Rochelle sighed, bothered for the second time in as many hours. With one last baleful look at her suffering Juniper, the redhead cast her attention to the screen where Amelia's face appeared and nodded. "Why they trouble us with crap like this... Beyond me. This is a science and exploration vessel, not a circus." She sighed, setting her trimmers down, "Put him through."

"I know, which is part of the reason why I wanted to get it handled quickly," Amelia returned, absolutely understanding her friend's frustration. She flicked her fingers across the controls, and a split display took over her screen with Rochelle and the ready room in one half, and Karl Marsten in the other. "Mr. Marstin, Commodore Ivanova," Amelia said in introduction, even though it would have been easy enough to deduce.

"Thank you commander. Commodore I am Karl Marsten I'm in acquisitions for art mainly working as a contractor with museums, private collectors along with governments to either get pieces back to the rightful owners or for display. The Federation Ministry of the Interior believes this is a good way to start re-building their reputation." Marsten said, "and as the Vindicator is a exploration ship they believe you'll be the perfect way to complete this goal."

"I don't think you completely understand the nature of the Vindicator, Mr Marsten." Rochelle replied curtly, "We don't run off playing Indiana Jones for anyone or anything, much less private collectors. Our missions are dangerous and they take us into territory that's both uncharted and unexplored and we don't take a high shine to guarding civilian lives beyond the families of our crew."

Nodding Marsten looked at the commodore, "I understand that I am a intruder to your ship and your family. But this is my job and the Ministry of Interior has no right to derail you from your missions so they can get some art. But with you being an exploration vessel this'll open new avenues to expand their and our culture. As for being unprotected this is gonna be my first time on a vessel within Starfleet so being unprotected isn't new to me."

The redhead hoisted an eyebrow high with a shake of her head. "Don't be so sure, Mr. Marsten. While I can't delay our departure any longer, rest assured that I'll find a new posting for you that will be better suited to your brand of work before we return back to Cold Station Theta." She sighed heavily, "Nor will you be permitted to set foot on planet Apsha due to how delicate the nature of this mission is. You're a civilian, but you will listen to every order I give or you'll find yourself on a shuttle being sent back to your boss with a letter of disapproval shoved up your ass on the toe of my size sevens, do you understand?"

Marsten smiled, "wouldn't have it any other way. And I'm sure it won't be for long seeing as Starfleet command will most likely have a say in this."

"Starfleet Command doesn't appreciate it's ships being held back by art collectors or any other liabilities. Rest assured." Rochelle replied with an unwavering expression of ice cold stone. "You have twenty five minutes to be aboard and settled or we leave without you. Ivanova out."

Marsten just nodded, "I'll be there in 10." With that the link shutdown and Marsten finished his drink before going to get his stuff and headed for the Vindicator.
