Mission: Agua Mala
Location: Various locations

Back in her quarters Teá just wanted to toss the damn PaDD across the room it also had a compound called i-23 Complex. She knew if she went to medical intelligence would be alerted so the next best place to at least figure out what this i-23 Complex was would be science. Standing up she locked up the PaDD before heading out. Walking into science Teá just realized that she had no idea who in science who could help.

Ethan stood at one of the terminals, apparently lost in deep concentration and thought as his blue eyes flicked back and forth at the information on the screen. Beside of the terminal was a glass terrarium with a medium sized brown and silver spider inside of it. "It's just a matter of time, Contessa," he murmured, not fully aware of the person who had just entered the lab. "Could you bring me the resequencer, please?" He asked without looking up.

"A what?" Teá asked looking around the lab wondering if this was the right move or not seeing as the man in front of her was talking to a spider.

"The genetic resequencer," Ethan said before he looked up and noticed the woman who had walked in. "I apologize. I thought you were one of my assistants. What can I do for you?" he asked as he straightened up.

"I need a expert in DNA or hereditary diseases." Teá said looking at the man.

"Well, I don't know much about humanoid DNA, but I do know quite a bit about insectoid," Ethan said offering his hand. "Lieutenant Commander Reiber, at your service. As for hereditary disease, I suspect you'd want Medical. What can I do for you?"

Taking his hand Teá looked at him, "I'm not here about lizard DNA and I can't go to medical. Is there someone in this department that can be more use to me?" Teá said trying to keep herself and check and not snap at the commander.

"Lizard?" An eyebrow went up. "Insectoid. Insects, arachnids to be precise. Such as Contessa here," he pointed out the spider in the terrarium beside the terminal. "However, I may be of some assistance, providing you start by telling me exactly what it is you're seeking that precludes you from going to Medical."

"Something called i-23 Complex." Teá said handing him a PaDD with just the i-23 Complex name.

Taking the PADD, Ethan looked at it and entered the query into the terminal. A moment later, he arched an eyebrow. "This is usually seen in species with a very low impulse control, aggressive tendencies and similar traits. How does this relate to you, Miss.....?"

"Black," Teá said not giving him her first name or position, "I don't know, may I?" She asked looking at the PaDD, "can you see if a DNA has it from a scan?"

"Well, Miss Black," Ethan said as he handed her the PADD back. "It depends on where the sample came from and if I can get a sample of it."

Tapping a few buttons and entering several passwords she brought up the file that contained the DNA. "Here."

Looking over the information, he opened the reference library and ran a cross check on it. "Hmm...that's interesting. This DNA is already on file on the ship. Where did you get this from, Miss Black?" Now a tone of command entered his voice, even if she was a civilian or not.

Luckily for her the truth was actually helpful in this instant, "I don't know to be honest a data packet arrived for me and when I opened it this was what I got."

Frowning, Ethan looked at the terminal, then back at her. "What does this relate to in regards to you, Miss Black? It isn't every day that someone received a complex DNA sequence with such a narrow spectrum of species that this could come from."

Closing her eyes these times she wished she wasn't who she was taking a deep breath in, "Take a sample of my DNA and run it against that." She said shocking even herself with that answers as she opened her eyes. Rolling up her sleeve to her black and gray knit hooded denim jacket.

Going to retrieve a DNA sampler, Ethan came back and pressed it against her arm, retrieving a sample of her cells. Going to the sequencer, he put the sample into it and started it. A few minutes later, he blinked and looked at the results again, then did a cross reference for the DNA of the i-23 Complex that was on file in the reference library. A moment later, he put in a request for her Medical files. "This is a match for the DNA in your system, Miss Black. The question is, how did it get there?"

"Are you serious?" Kusu said a male Bajoran sighed as he got another alert that this lieutenant's medical file was being looked at. Tapping a few buttons Kusu locked the file up stopped any intrusion into it while backtracking the access point, "the Vindicator again." Tapping a few more buttons he opened a channel to the lab that it was being accessed from.

Ethan's face took on a curious expression as he was instantly locked out of the file. Just before he started to enter his access codes to gain access back to it, the comm channel opened. "This is Lieutenant Commander Ethan Reiber," he said as he waited to see who was contacting him and if it was related to what he was doing.

"You don't have high enough level clearance to view this file." Kusu said following the script that was given to them by people much higher up on the food chain.

"Who is this, please?" Ethan asked, casting a glance at the young woman standing in the lab with her.

"Starfleet Intelligence." Was all Kusu said really hating these calls.

"And why is access to Miss Black's Medical file restricted?" Ethan asked, refusing to accept a mere department from stopping him until he had orders to stop from a viable source.

"It's above my pay grade and I suggest you just accept that something are just that." Kusu said tapping a few buttons and sending over an actual set of orders saying that it was a classified file.

Looking at the orders, Ethan sighed. "Understood." Ending the communication, he looked at the young lady. "Can you tell me what just happened, Miss Black?"

Teá shrugged at this point she needed to play dumb until she could figure out what the hell was happening. Especially with who the hell sent her that data packet and how the hell did the DNA match. "You sure the DNA from the data packet and my DNA is the same?"

"It is, and until I get clearance from Command, which is clearly what this is going to take according to these official orders pointing out that your file is classified, that's all the information you're going to get from me, Miss Black." Ethan told her.

Shit shit Teá cursed under her breath mind you when she actually say she didn't know anything about this amazingly it was the damn truth. And she could be backed up that medical did have access to her file mind you it was certain aspects of it but still had access. "Of course but this goes much much higher than even what commander Archer clearance is." Teá said looking at the scientist.

"Commander Archer?" He asked her. "As in the Chief of Intelligence Commander Archer?"

"Yes the man, the myth and whatever else that saying is." Teá said sighing finding that this was a personal matter that was vastly turning into a issue that most likely is gonna get her kicked off the ship, burned and losing the one focal point of good in her life.

"There also happens to be a Commodore on the ship who just happens to be the commanding officer, Miss Black," Ethan pointed out helpfully. "I'm certain that she's going to want to hear about this so soon after what happened on Atlantis Prime."

"Maybe," Teá said now just realizing how much of her past she really actually didn't know. Even her adoptive parents were older so by the time she was entering the academy they had passed away from combination of old age and their bodies just failing them.

"What department and position do you hold on this ship, Miss Black?" Ethan asked her, his fingers on the terminal. "It's clear that you're either holding something back or have a past which requires higher clearance than mine to access. Not to mention you have some highly irregular DNA in your body that is most definitely not standard." He paused to look at her, cocking his head. "For that matter, I'm not even certain that I recognize your species, and I've been around for four hundred plus years."

"Intelligence. And I'm a Trill unjoined and Ocampa hybrid." Teá said balling her hands into fists as she could feel that prejudice whether or not it was actually there. "I'm not holding anything back. I was adopted anything before the adoption I don't remember."

"Intelligence," he echoed her, remembering the other person from Intel who had visited him. "Have you talked to anyone else about this, Miss Black? Your department head, the Commodore, anyone else on this ship or outside the ship that may have a reason to want to do more harm to you than help you?"

"No up until now I didn't have to deal with it or did it cross my mind that something was amiss." Teá snapped looking at the commander, "I realize my hybrid status is a bit odd but according to studies Trills are able to mate with compatible species and produce offspring with little to no complications. My guess is my birth mother unfortunately ended up in the little complications column."

"Ocampa..." Ethan mused for a moment. "Weren't they a race encountered in the Delta Quadrant by the crew of the Voyager? I recall reading something about them in one of the articles."

"Yes they were but that was 38 years ago and several Ocampa have actually joined Starfleet." Teá retorted back.

"Fair enough," he responded to calm her. "Until I get orders to do any further work...or to stop any further work, I'm afraid all I can do is some research on the i-23 complex and hope it doesn't bring Starfleet Intelligence down on my head again. I must admit that I am interested."

"I would appreciate that," Teá said as the thoughts ran wild with have they been watching me ever since I was born, was it I randomly selected to be watched when I joined the academy or was I pigeoned holed.

"I'll let you know if I find anything, Miss Black," he told her as he cleared his terminal. "In the meantime, there's nothing else I can do."

Teá just nodded as she walked out as she started running scenarios through her head of what command was gonna say, do or lack there of in all honesty.
