Karim sighed as he entered Sickbay. It didn't feel the same without Nanee rushing about, and telling him he was too busy to talk. He still hadn't heard any news from Command about a replacement Chief Medical Officer. Knowing he needed some help with what he was about to do, he tapped his combadge "Dhej to Rotek. Please meet me in the Enterprise Sickbay. Dhej out."

Rotek was taking a few brief moments relaxing in his office between reports he was working on. He was a bit startled when he heard his combadge go off, but recovered himself. Clearing his throat he said "Rotek here Captain, I will be there shortly sir. Rotek out."

Rotek entered Sickbay as ordered, and found a man he assumed was Captain Dhej standing by the main console. Walking over to him, he said "Lieutenant Commander Rotek reporting as ordered sir. How can I help?"

Karim smiled at the man, and replied "Thanks for coming so quickly Doctor Rotek. I know my request was a bit unusual, but you are currently the highest ranked medical officer in the immediate area, and I needed some help. As you may or may not know, we are without a Chief Medical Officer at the moment, and need to find a solution. I've decided to bring the EMH online to supplement our current medical staff." Pausing, he added with a smirk "Back when I was a CMO, I didn't use the EMH very often, so I'm a bit out of practice. I thought you could help me bring it online and confirm it is programmed properly."

Rotek nodded, and said "Of course sir. I will do help however I can. I admit, I am not a regular user of the EMH either."

Karim nodded, and said "Thank you. We should get started, I have some other commitments that are coming up very soon." Clearing his throat, he said "Computer, bring the Emergency Medical Holographic Program online." Moments later it said "Acknowledged, loading Emergency Medical Holographic Program."

Before the two men a large creature, resembling a Terran ostrich appeared. It wore what appeared to be a modified version of a standard Starfleet uniform. It was no more then a tank top with a combadge attached. Turning its head to them it said "Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

Karim looked at Rotek, confused. Shaking his head he said "Doctor, what is going on? Is this some sort of joke?"

Rotek tapped a few controls on the console and replied "The computer confirms this is the EMH. It shows that when we were docked at Cold Station Theta, that both ships received an update to the program. It says here, that there has been a random physical profile algorithm added, along with some other personality subroutines. Apparently Starfleet Medical wants to continue to promote diversity. The being before us is a representation of a healer from the Otriv species."

The hologram walked over to them, turning its head sideways and saying "If you two are done looking at my programming, can someone tell me why I was brought online?"

Karim took a breath and said "We brought you online to help supplement our current medical staff. We recently had our Chief Medical Officer retire, and decided having you online would be a benefit to our crew."

The being smiled, and said "Understood Captain. You can call me Doc. Where did you want me to start?"

Karim turned to Rotek and said "Doctor, do you mind showing Doc around our Sickbay and getting him settled in? Once he's settled, you are free to return to your ship."

Rotek nodded and said "If you'd follow me Doc, I'll show you to the main office, and bring you up to speed on the crew records."

Karim smiled, and after the two men left, made his way to his quarters to change before reporting to the Aquarius.
