Mission: Secret Meetings
Timeline: During transit to rendezvous point

"This commander is gonna be the death of me." Ellis said walking past his wife sitting at the main pool table for the Marines. "I swear if he has one more complaint I'll shove him out of the air lock."

Sophie Ann just smirked, "take a deep breath before you get to him. I know your not exactly thrilled with the COs choice in XOs but.......you need to learn to work with him seeing that we've got to work with him."

Grumbling Ellis just nodded he than finally walked out of the barracks. With his Type II phaser on his hip. As he moved down the corridor he nodded to a couple of enlisted naval personnel. Once on the bridge he saw the XO, "commander you wanted to see me?"

Neyes nodded, "Follow me." He gestured to the turbolift, "You have the bridge Mr. Williams."

Once inside the lift, the doors slid shut behind them and Landon breathed out a little sigh of relief. Of course, being shut inside a tiny room with the marine captain was irritating on any number of levels, but even being off the bridge for a moment was enough. The last hour or so at warp had proven a dull. Being the XO had it's perks. He was able to move about the ship at will, and now...

"You should know, that since the Captain has been ordered to oversee the President, he will be overly-occupied." Landon shook his head, showing his own frustration and intercepting the Marine captain's next question "Something about classified discussions. I don't have clearance to know, so don't ask. Suffice it to say i'll be assuming acting command while the Captain is indisposed."

Allowing a inward sigh Ellis looked at the commander, "so what are my orders while he's on the ship?"

"Babysit." Landon spoke under an irritated breath. "No one will tell us anything, at least not yet." In truth Neyes wanted to storm down to the diplomatic suite and demand to be let in on the little game the Captain and the President seemed to be enjoying at their expense. Landon had no deep love for the Starfleet establishment, but he believed in following orders.

This didn't seem to be either.

"Captain I want you to tell your men to keep their ears open when they're in earshot of the president's guard. Something doesn't seem right to me." Neyes was hesistant to involve Ellis in his suspicion, but he was running out of patience.

Ellis just nodded maybe this XO wasn't all bad after all. "How aggressive do you want me to be with this?"

In any other situation, Landon might have gone off on the man for asking such a bull-headed question, but considering the source he wasn't at all surprised. Neyes swallowed the urge to smack the marine up the side of the head, "Aggressive is not at all what I want from you, Captain. These are inklings of a suspicion I'm talking about. I haven't spoken to the Captain in two days, and I can't get the President's guard to answer when I call. I want you to post guards at all entrances... and exits. Eves-drop if you have to, but don't go in there with a rifle and start interrogating people."

Neyes un-ruffled his tone and spoke calmly, almost comically, "This is the President, after all."

Ellis just smiled knowing that his question was a dumb one but he did enjoy seeing the XO get all fired up. "Aye aye commander."

The turbolift doors opened to the corridors outside the diplomatic suites. Neyes' glance out at the end of the hall, where the locked down section resided, was almost toxic.

"I'm going to find out what the hell is going on here."
