Mission: Secret Meetings

Carrie walked out of the emergency care area and then stopped, dead on her heels, blinking for a moment. Then, turning abruptly, she entered back, walked to the acceptance desk and organized the three piles of PADDs into something a bit less cluttery. She looked again, shook her head in dismay and shrugged.

Well, the visitors will have to suffer some clutter, despite her annoyance about it. She made a mental note to speak to the chief nurse about it, and left towards the administrative offices.

Cody smiled as he followed the directions on a padd to where his administrative office would be. He'd been instructed to seek out a Lieutenant Rofer who would show him around. Walking in, he began looking around for someone who could help him and ran smack into a body, then fell on the floor hard, on his butt.

Carrie watched as the two PADDs she was holding flew out of her hand in slow motion, flipping in the air as if intimately involved in an elaborate dance. It took her brain a moment to realize that, along with the PADDs, her body was also stumbling, though much less gracefully, losing balance and bumping her back against the wall with a soft thud.

That woke her up from her daze. She blinked, letting her brain catch up to real time movement rather than the slow motion it was caught in, her eyes following the two PADDs as they hit the floor almost at the same moment, merely an inch away from the man on the floor.

"Uh," she blinked again, rubbing the back of her head in confusion, her brain still not quite focused enough to think of anything else to say.

Cody shook his head to clear it, and quickly got to his feet. Smiling slightly, he said "I'm so sorry about that. I just came aboard and was asked to find um..." He paused, saw the two padds on the floor, reached down to grab them both, along with his small duffle, which he slung over his shoulder. Noticing one was his, he handed her the other one. Looking down at the padd, he added "Ok, I'm supposed to be looking for a Doctor Carrie Rofer? She's supposed to show me around and to my office."

Carrie blinked, her head bobbing up and down in a nod that was almost unconscious. "You found her," she finally allowed for a smile, her daze discipating, and extended her hand, half to offer a shake, and half to see if the man needs further balance assistance.

"I'm Doctor Rofer," she gave the man a puzzled look, then realization flooded her eyes. "You're Doctor Larel? I was just about to get you from the Administration office. I guess you found your way." She smirked.

Smiling, he shook the offered hand and said "Yes, I'm Lieutenant Cody Larel, Chief Counselor. It's nice to meet you Doctor Rofer. This ship is huge, I'm happy I ran into you, literally, or I'd be wandering in circles for hours."

"It's okay, this deck is full of Doctors, I expect at least one of them would have been able to help you," she smirked and gestured at the other side of the hallway, "I assume you've seen the Administrative offices already?"

Shaking his head, he said "No, not yet. Literally just came on board a short time ago, dropped my stuff in my quarters, and came down here. Do you mind showing me my administrative office and the counselling area?"

Carrie nodded, "Certainly. This way," she gestured for him to walk with her down the hallway. "How do you find the ship so far? Except for 'big'?" she smirked, enjoying her own humor.

Laughing slightly, he replied "It's great. Everyone seems to be very friendly too. Kind of nice to be welcomed so nicely on my first day."

"Yes, I found the same thing when I came aboard, for the most part," Carrie nodded in satisfaction, "it is nice to note that as a a similarity with civilian world," she smiled, and turned to a big entrance, where the double doors swooshed open, gesturing for the Larel to walk in ahead.

Walking in to the admin office area, Cody was impressed with the size of the place. Turning his head to Carrie, he said "Wow, this is a nice setup. On my last ship I had to use my counselling room as an office too. It'll be nice to have a seperation between paperwork and meeting with patients."

Carrie nodded smugly, "Yes. We have the entire deck designated as the Medical facility, so this is more like a hospital than the infirmaries you would find on other Starfleet ships," She gestured around, "it works a lot better this way, I think. And this," she took a couple of steps towards one of the offices, "is yours. You can add your security code and lock the door. I will likely have an emergency access code to it, but just as a precaution. If you get stuck." She seemed to find that amusing.

"You will also get access to the restricted medical files once you sort out your clearance with Security."

Nodding, Cody replied "Thanks for your help Doctor. I appreciate you taking me under your proverbial wing."

Carrie nodded, "You're most welcome, Doctor Larel. I hope to make sure the medical needs of the crew on this ship are well taken care of, and dealing with their psychological status is an important aspect of their overall health." She pointed out, rather cockily, and nodded at the doors again, her tone transforming into an almost childish glee, "Want to see your treatment area? I think you'd like it."

Nodding, Cody stepped into his office and dropped the small duffle he was holding, then with a smile, said "Lead the way Doctor." He was eager to get to work, but getting a tour was definitley going to be big help.

The continued walking out the Administrative area and around the circumference of the ship, Carrie pointing out the entrances to the infirmary, the patient rooms and isolation pods along the way, before the stopped, finally in front of a big door.

"Here we are, Doctor Larel," Carrie smiled wide and gestued at the opening doors with a slightly bow, "your new treatment area. We retooled one of the old group isolation pods so you'll be close to the treatment holosuits," she looked around and then finally at him eagerly. "How do you like it?"

Smiling, Cody said "It looks great. Very comfy and welcoming. I know my patients will feel more at ease here." Pulling his attention back from the room, which he knew he would need to personalise a bit, he said "Thanks so much for showing me around. I look forward to working with you Carrie, um, I mean if it's ok to call you Carrie?"

Carrie blinked a moment, considering; she wasn't used to being called by her first name, especialy not in a professional environment, and the suggestion sounded incredibly odd to her. Then again, she came on to Starfleet for the 'advanture' and 'different experience' and.. well, the rest of those ad-like claims the recruiter spouted enthusiastically.

She nodded carefully finally, "Well, I guess our encounter already broke through the usual personal boundaries," she smirked, "Carrie would be fine."

Smiling, he replied "Then call me Cody, but only when we are alone I guess. Wouldn't want to go against regulations eh? I think I'm going to go back to my office and get it set up. I'll see you around then?"

"Cody," Carrie nodded, though that didn't feel right on her tongue; she may have to get used to it. "Hm." Either that, or he may have to settle for being called his proper title.

"Well, I'll let you settle in. Good luck, and, well, if you need anything, feel free to come to my office. Or the infirmary. Or just call me on the comm link," she smirked, and turned towards the doors.

"Welcome aboard, Doctor Larel," it appears first-name was not in the cards for now. She smiled, and left.
