Lt Saunders looked over to Lt Roswell as they exited the Romulan medical unit. She was quite worried as the Chief Science Officer still looked a little shaken. For some odd reason Jesse felt it safe to stay in the shadows of the away team party. Although the meeting was quite tense she felt that the Romulans were in such a predicament that even if they wanted to attack they just weren't able to.

Jesse turned to Saia as they came to a halt under a tree of the local flora and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Are you ok now? What do you think we should look at first?" Jesse asked softly.

Saia started slightly, and after a second of panic, just calmly stepped around to look at the bark on the tree. She put a hand on it and traced the bark pattern to the root above the ground. "Ground up. Gather samples of soil and water. Well, ground and sky first. We'll collect samples and take scans of the air. I'll have the team on the ship look at the weather patterns. If by then, we find nothing, then we look at the flora. If still nothing, we look at fauna. The most docile animals first of course.

Saia let Saunders start to collect soil as she set up the air scanner. She then pulled out her PADD to check the last time previous weather patterns. She looked over the Saunders, "Get the soil?"

She put the soil in the machine and watched the scans run through, "There seems to be some traces of solid hydronium salts..." Her eyes went to the water, "The stream?" Her mind was reeling as she pulled out her PADD, did some reading and started doing scans of the other samples, "According to your labeling, the salts are more dense closer to the shore of the stream." She stood and moved toward the stream, "Let's check out the water."

They moved toward the small stream and Saia stopped and smiled. There was a small hoofed creature on the other side taking a drink. She looked at her PADD and after a moment, "They call it a triod." She let out a sigh and moved closer to the edge of the water and chuckled as the creature hopped away. "Well, he seemed healthy enough." She frowned, "Doesn't mean they can't be carriers for something." After collecting the water, Saia started the scans in the equipment they brought down with them.

"It's definitely coming from the water." She looked at Jesse, "Ready to get wet? We need to get some samples of the stream bed." Saia put on the slickers and gloves and stepped into the shallow stream. She reached for the stones and some samples of the soil.

Stepping out of the water, she placed the samples in the scanner and took off the gear and started the scans. "Any deposits are surface residue left from the water. The inner makeup of the stone have nothing that would contaminate the water." She looked at her PADD at her map. "Let's follow the stream."
