Jasmine stumbled back to base camp bleeding and wounded with only two remaining security specialists. Her blade entered the snow as she stumbled to her knees.

Coughing several large globs of blood landed on the white snow. Clutching her ribs where she received several blows she tried standing again but collapsed face landing in the snow. "Help!" She weakly cried out.

The Captain had stormed off after the missing First Officer, Commander Ivanova. She had been taken after a private meeting with Neyes sometime between 0200 and 0300 in the morning. Hawthorne had tried to rally a more defensible rescue party, but didn't have time. The Captain took a handful of soldiers and went directly toward the cave where footsteps seemed to take her.

Several medical officers were already upon them. Two badly bloodied and beaten security officers were hauled away with stretchers toward the medical tent. Hawthorne moved between them, making a bee-line for the Lieutenant. She was far less injured than the others, and he made note of it for the future. Fighting was definitely not one of her short-comings.

He knelt down to help her to her feet. "Lieutenant are you alright?" He asked with his calming, deep voice.

Wincing as she stood again clutching her side. "not exactly....but I'll live." Jasmine said wiping her forehead where she had a nasty gash across it. "I just need a dermal regenerator for this gash....and I need to know who the senior most officer is."

Hawthorne snatched a dermal regenerator, and buzzed it along the woman's most bloodied areas. "I believe that would either be Dahe'el or Caldwell, Williams, ... I think that's it. Good luck finding them though. I think at least one of them left with you. He's probably in the medical tent."

Snarling as she grabbed her blade and slid it into her scabbard on her back. How the hell did this turn into such a shitstorm? She thought nodding to the petty officer for the quick work with the dermal regenerator. She than moved quickly into the medical tent and did a quick search.

"I take it you didn't find them." Hawthorne ran a medical tricorder over her to ensure she was without serious life-threatening injury.

"No.....and as for that Cladwell person I sent my staff sergeant out into the damn storm to find his ass." Jasmine snarled again. Looking around, "alright.....have we been able to communicate with the Vindicator?"

Hawthorne nodded, "We established a stable comm-link with them a few hours ago thank to Dahe'el. They still do not have a solid means of using sensors on the surface however. He hopes to have that problem solved soon, because they think they can detect a number of life-forms moving near the cave systems you just came from. If we can isolate the signatures, pehaps we can find the Captain and the First Officer.

"Can you help me map out some of the region?" He sat her down on the softer chair near the fire at the center of camp. A nurse continually tended to her, but she was far less injured than she seemed to be.

"I can try.....we were moving through the woods pretty fast to try and catch up with the captain. Then then whatever those things were attacked us." Jasmine said.

Hawthorne shook his head, "The Noturans neglected to tell us the caves are home to 'corrupted' individuals. If I understood, the radiation of 'crud' tends to drive their people a little crazy. The people they excommunicate for wanted to use technology often end up that way. Lately there are more and more people looking to the future... so more of these 'Essurient' keep popping up."

Leto held up a PaDD that outlined a map of the surrounding area. "Can you point where you last saw the Captain?"

Looking over the map she pointed at a spot. "Right there.....within 500 feet of that spot. It got pretty thick back there." Jasmine said adjusting her armor.

"He's not with you," Hawthorne added, "which direction did he go before you lost sight of him?"

"North northeast?" Jasmine said, "he disappeared when we were attack so my concern at the time wasn't exactly the direction the captain went."

Hawthorne tapped a few times on the PaDD, "If they ended up in the cave, we should scan for lifeforms between here and there. Dahe'el has put together something that will get that done." He tapped his badge, "Hawthorne to runabout Horizon. Can we scan sector 112 for human lifesigns?"

"Yes, just a minute. Scanning now."

Standing up she looked around. "I need to find the rest of my Marines. When you get the scan back come find me. And we'll figure out a plan." Jasmine said wincing as she stood.

"Nothing on sensors, but it's a mess. I can't read anything. Vindicator said they had help, i recommend returning to the runabouts until we hear from them."

"Affirmative". Hawthorne nodded to Jasmine and the two parted ways.
