Mission: In the Dark
Location: Gym

Indys was in the gym wrapping her hands ready to hit the punching bag. Indys made sure to hit the gym in-between shifts to make sure it was quiet. Indys was wearing a simple black tank and black shorts causing her blue skin to really pop. With her hands wrapped she walked over to the bag and started a slow gentle rhythm of punches.

After ten minuets her body had a thin layer of sweat beads dripping down it and she started to stop paying attention to everything else in the gym. But her antennae still danced around sensing and relaying information to her brain. After a couple more minuets of intense punches she stopped and put a hand onto the bag to stop it swinging.

After the bag slowly stopped swinging Indys bent over at the waist stretching out her back. Before slowly coming back up and wiping several beads of sweat running down her forehead. Before noticing the new comer.

Thalla padded barefoot into the gym, wearing yoga pants and a sports bra, both white with twin burnt orange stripes down either side. She looked around, noticed Indys near the punching bag, and nodded politely. She'd seen the marine around the ship in the time she'd been aboard, but she hardly had need to interact with the marines assigned to the ship. Besides, if she listened to her human crew mates, the marines were just a bunch of pin heads anyways. She wasn't sure what that meant, but it did not sound nice.

Indys nodded like Thalla, she had seen the Andorian women on the ship but did not know what role she played. Leaving the punching bag, she walked over and grabbed her towel and wiped her face. "Evening," Indys said politely but slightly out of breath.

"And to you," Thalla returned with a soft bow of her head, and a slight dip of her antennae. "Don't let me disturb your- punching? I'm just looking to practice Jujutsu myself," she explained.

Indys nodded as she slowly started unwrapping her hands; her knuckles were sore and bruised but not bloody. "It's okay I need to give my knuckles a rest," Indys said slowly, flexing her fingers as she headed over to the mat to start her yoga routine. "I've done some jujutsu myself. It's great for mixed martial art fighting."

"I mostly do it just for the exercise. I prefer sparring with weapons when facing an opponent," Thalla explained, letting her eyes drift over the Andorian woman in front of her. "Do you spar?"

"I do but it's been awhile since I have." Indys said, "primary with the Tsunkatse Falchions."

Thalla nodded. She'd heard of the weapon, though she had not had a chance to try it. "I have an affection for the ushaan-tor, but I've tried a number of melee weapons in my time with Starfleet. I must admit that I have not held a Tsunkatse Falchions yet." Thalla had intended to practice her Jujutsu with a holographic partner, but the prospect of a live person to spar with was nice.

"Uh, yes, ushaan-tor, a lovely weapon but sometimes you need a bit more reach. That's where the Falchions come in handy," Indys said standing up and walking over to the other Andorian.

"You do not need more reach when you're tethered together," Thalla insisted incredulously, eying the blue marine almost suspiciously. "Have you never done a proper Ushaan? Training rules, of course." The last part was said almost as if it were an insult, to imply that if it'd been a proper duel the answer would be obvious as a Ushaan was a duel to the death.

"I have done a proper Ushaan with proper training protocol." Indys said coolly, not liking being accused of not knowing what a proper Ushaan was. "But as a Marine, we hardly get shackled to our enemies or have duels in the middle of a battle. Which again where the Falchions come in handy when and if it comes down to hand to hand combat."

"Of course, for practical applications no one would choose a ushaan-tor, it's an ice knife after all, but I was talking about sparring for exercise not practical training." Thalla had thought this obvious, but perhaps it had not been.

"It's been years in all honesty," Indys said. "I do miss training with it," Indys said looking at Thalla. "I would love to pick it up again, I actually have my father's ushaan-tor set."

"You do?" Thalla antennae perked up. "Perhaps we could train together?"

"It's been passed down one generation to one generation for at least four generations." Indys said, "it was actually used as ice miners tool for the first two generations. And training with you in Ushaan would be most excellent."

"Perhaps we can meet here, 2200 when it's late enough it should be empty like it is now?" Thalla suggested, looking around the gym.

Indys quickly walked over to where her stuff was and pulled out a PaDD. Looking through her shift schedule, "2200 will work for me for the next few weeks."

"Good. Starting tonight, or tomorrow?" Thalla clasped her hands together in front of her, thinking about hitting the holodeck now to refresh herself with this weapon.

"Tomorrow preferably. I could use some time to re-familiarize myself with the ushaan-tor." Even though it had been years since she had used her ushaan-tor, all of her practice as a young child until she joined the Marines should come back to her.

"Very well, I shall see you tomorrow at 2200." Thalla nodded, and turned to head towards the door.

Indys nodded, putting it into her schedule. Then she put the PaDD back with her stuff and returned to the mat to continue with her yoga routine. But she had a slight grin that she would be sparring with someone. She didn't mind sparring with her fellow Marines but there wasn't anything like sparring with another Andorian.
