Mission: In the Dark
Location: Deck 1 - Viewing Station

Vlimar had arrived about an hour ago with his hands full of PADDs and other devices. He had to compile reports from all systems into one comprehensive program, which he wanted to create, in order to modify the Ops console to better suit his needs. He thought that the LCARS IV model was too archaic and the LCARS V was too undeveloped to be used in the Vindicator. Therefore, he felt that using a modified version of LCARS IV, with some accessibility options of LCARS V was the preferred way to do it, and was programming his way to do just that.

As he was sitting in the far corner of the viewing port, his back against the wall, he offered himself a fantastic view of the stars, and the action outside the Shipyards. He requested that the computer plays smooth classical music from the 18th Century. The ambiance was calming and proper to work.

Robyn had had a delay at security due to the encounter with Norbert Bernard and was more than glad finally board Vindiator and to be handed a padd with details of the ship upon it. Directions to her quarters was highlighted in green and to her department in blue. There was also a list of where to find just about everything else she could ever need plus some.

It was all very useful not to say vital but she decided to take a detour before settling in.
Her luggage was in her quarters still packed but eager to explore a little she had freshened up, dressed in casual clothing and so was free to wander at will.
Padd in hand, she made her way to a viewing station for the idea of seeing the shipyards from the safety of Vindicator appealed to her very much.On Deck1, she entered a long wide room with windows along the length of one wall. The view was unimpeded and spectacular from the nearby 'worker bees' to the ships beyond and further out, the vastness of space.
She was transfixed.

Vlimar noticed the silhouette in his peripheral vision and slowly completed his line of coding, then looked up, noticing the petite female observing through the window at the action outside. He shrugged and looked back down at his PADD. After a few seconds, he put the PADD down and notice that the female was still there, no moving. Vlimar looked at his tea pot, then said. "Care for some tea? It's quite enjoyable with the view, I assure you..."

Unaware that anyone else had been present, Robyn was startled by the voice and turned quickly in the direction from whence it came.
"Oh!" she said and looked back at the smiling man pointing meaningfully at a small teapot on the desk in front of him. He was, she thought, of middle age with slightly greying hair but she hesitated for only a moment before replying: "Thankyou...that sounds good." as she crossed the distance between them.

Vlimar nodded and smiled. He took the vacant cup onto the tea set and poured some of the steaming liquid into it. He then offered the cup to Robyn, pointing at the milk & sugar. "You are a member of the crew or family?", he asked, since Robyn was not wearing any uniform.

"Crew." she replied "..just arrived. Thankyou."
She accepted the cup, added a splash of milk but no sugar. "I'm a Doctor." she said with a small smile.

"Ah!", replied Vlimar. He scrambled through his PADD then read over one on his side. "Doctor Robyn Maxwell, I presume?", he stated, smiling.

"Why yes , correct." Robyn replied "..and you are....?"

Vlimar stood from behind his desk and extended his hand. "I am Vlimar PontBrillant, Operations.", he stated, observing the young doctor.

"Ummm..." She swapped the cup from her right hand to her left in order to accept the handshake. "...a pleasure to meet you." she said feeling her hand taken in a firm grip. "It's a wonderful view." she added tilting her head back towards the spacious window.

Vlimar nodded. "Indeed... One of the best around...", he stated. "It is a quite place, here, usually, perfect for stargazing or working...", he commented. "Tell me, Is this your first posting?"

"The first on a starship, yes." she replied. " I did the obligatory year at Copernicus." she explained, naming the Lunar Hospital where the majority of AMOs worked after graduation "..but I put in for a ship transfer as soon as I could...and here I am."
Again came the simple smile with its dimple almost hidden in her cheek.
"And you?" she asked.

Vlimar smiled widely. "Look at me, do I look like I'm new to this?", he said, obviously intending humour. "I have been around for as long as I can remember...", he said. "But, you will see, it's quite fun, this life...", he concluded.

Robyn returned the smile taking the moment to observe him and wondered what he did there.
He was, she thought, perhaps not quite as old as her father but not far from that age. He was tall and carried no extra weight. His dark hair sprinkled in grey, was still thick and the face beneath it spoke more of an outdoor life than a desk bound one.Ops he had said but that didnt seem to fit.
She had the impression that he was kindly, given to laughter and yet there seemed to be a seriousness not far below the surface.
Realizing that she had been staring a little too long, she quickly turned away sipping from her cup and looked out at the view.
"Do you know what that is?" she asked stepping towards it.

Vlimar looked up at the viewport and saw the repair pods on their merry way. "You mean the shipyards repair units?", he asked.

"No, not them...that ship there." she replied raising her hand a little to point.

Vlimar stood from his chair again. He slowly approached the viewport. "I am not sure, actually...", he said. He observed the item for a few seconds, then turned to Maxwell. "Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to be alarming anyone...", he stated, while slowly returning to his seat.

Robyn stayed where she was, sipping her tea and seeming not to grow tired of everything outside. Eventually she turned back to Vlimars desk and walked towards him.

"Thankyou for the tea." she said setting the cup and saucer back onto the tray. " I enjoyed it....all of it." she added waving a hand vaguely back towards the window and smiling to him, obviously pleased by such simple things.

Vlimar stood and nodded again. "I look forward to seeing you again..", he stated, calmly and respectfully.

" I'm sorry if I disturbed your work." Robyn said. "I too have things to do..just wanted to see all this." She smiled to him across the desk.

Vlimar returned the smile. "Don't worry. It wouldn't be work if it hadn't any interruptions...", he stated. "This place is great for working, obviously.", he added, while pointing the sky, obvious referring to the music the computer was playing. "Perfect ambiance, isn't?", he stated.

"Perfect." she agreed. "When my workdays need tempering I'll know where to come."
Again a small smile and she bid him goodbye feeling as she walked towards the door and with another glance to the windows, that she now knew at least one friendly face here.

Vlimar smiled as the petite female exited the lounge. He emptied the tea pot into his cup and returned to his work, think of about it was nice to have a crew that actually quite normal, unlike so many ships.
