Mission: Are You Touched?

-=/\=- CONTINUE AWAY MISSION -=/\=-

Vlimar observed the male approach the redhead and both heading away from the group. The Commander took his eyes away from the redhead and her new acolyte and observed the group of native being, cautious.

"Petty Officer Rayya. Please cover for the XO, while he keep the front here," he stated, looking at the natives and smiling softly, making sure to not provoke them.

Noah Waterhouse watched silently as his sister walked away with the witchdoctor. When Logan Grant had sought escape aboard The Pelican, Noah had accepted him without knowing who he was. He had accepted many people aboard his ship without knowing who they were. When he came to find out he was the witchdoctor his sister had spoken of on the Griffin, he was quite pleased to have been able to help out someone Pond knew and thought highly of. However, it soon became clear that Logan Grant didn't care for the Pastafarian faith, particularly when the ship crashed on this planet, and Noah started to share the noodley word with these creatures... once the universal translator was able to decipher their language after two long days of being screeched at.

"Do you know about the Flying Spaghetti Monster?" he asked, looking at the three members of his sister's away team who still stood before him. He knew the man Pond had called PontBrillant held a higher rank than her — he could see that he was a full commander, where she was a lieutenant commander — but she'd spoken like she was in charge. Therefore her away team. He smiled and waited for a response.

"Not in great depth, no." Robyn replied eyeing him specutively.

From the polite smile bloomed a dazzling grin, and Noah's attention zeroed in on the woman with the blue collar; medical, probably a doctor as the other blue collared member of the team was enlisted.

"Well, doctor," he started, considering the woman in front of him, "did you know that the Flying Spaghetti Monster absolutely loves you."

A faint smile, a pause to phrase her reply then : "I'm sure he does, along with the majority of other deities." she said.

"Enough," Rael said quietly looking at the ensign and to the civilian, "this is not the time or place for this, ensign you should know this."

"It is always time for the noodley word. Do any of you know if it's Friday?"

Robyn turned her head to Rael, ignoring the civilians second question.

"I may answer him if I wish." she stated in a calm quiet tone. "Standing here in silence would achieve nothing other than to run the risk of upsetting these creatures..." she gestured slightly towards the group surrounding them some of which still held seed pods "....who may wonder why we dismiss their friends conversation." She paused for a second or so, her eyes locked onto Rael in a steady gaze then she turned back to Noah as though nothing had happened.
"It's Tuesday." she said.

"Tuesday," Noah repeated, a soft frown on his lips. The beings moved close around him, softly screeching and clicking in concern. The plant matter parted at the edge of the clearing and Amelia carefully picked her way out into the clearing again, her combadge missing, followed by Sørensen.

Vlimar slowly approached Noah, as the conversation was happening. As he got close to him, calmly, he declared. "Mr. Waterhouse, I need to tell you that you are now under investigation regarding unlawfully contacting a protected species."

"Investigation?" Noah parroted back to the commander, his eyes flitting to Amelia as she approached. "We crashed here, what was I supposed to do... Have my people die?" He stared down at the Frenchman, crossing his arms as the beings crowded close, surrounding the two men.

Vlimar observed the beings approaching, surrounding him, as he discreetly motioned to Sørensen to approach. "I understand that, but I still need to do an investigation of the matter. I will need your cooperation," he stated, waving, inviting Noah to follow him.

Robyn looked around a little uncertainly. The atmosphere with these little beings had subtely altered. She glanced towards Rayya.

Rael's hand moved slowly over his Ka-bar, ready to use it if needed it, but at the same time he tried to keep a non-aggressive stance, not liking how this was going. Glancing at Robyn, Rael held up a hand to signify that she should stay where she was.

Robyn gave an almost imperceptible nod in response and looked back at Noah.

"I don't have to do anything for you," Noah insisted. He laid a hand on top of the head of one of the beings, and the rest pressed in closer. Noah's people, Amelia, Sørensen, and the rest of the away team were blocked from moving closer by the the crush of the beings. "May the Flying Spaghetti Monster touch you and show you the error of your ways. He loves us all, and he wants us all to love one another as he loves us."

Vlimar slowly looked around him. "You are telling me that not only you have contacted a non-contacted species, but you have indoctrinated them? You need to come with me so we can understand the extent of the damage you have created," he stated, putting his hand carefully on Noah's left arm.

Robyn remained stock still. Her first away team mission had,in her mind, included giving medical aid to injured crew and not what now seemed nore likely to be an all out fight involving some kind of missionary and seed pod hurling little beings.

"Indoctrinated!?" Noah demanded, taking half a step closer to Vlimar, straightening himself up as if to emphasize how much taller he is. The screeching and clicking started to build, and a couple seed pods flew in the direction of Vlimar, narrowly missing him. "My people and I only survived when the rum and pasta ran out because these pirates were kind enough to take us in. All I did was talk to them. Besides, don't you know your own regs, you fucking craft easy Mac."

"Noah! Vlimar!" Amelia yelled as she tried to shove her way through the mass of small bodies.

Vlimar slowly smiled at Noah's comment. "Please, I am asking to comply with the investigation. Please, ask your friends to step away, so we can continue with our duty," he stated, cold as ice, looking at Noah directly in the eyes, resolute. Sørensen tried to move in, going in between two beings, trying to reach for the Commander.

"I am under no obligation to help you," Noah insisted, placing a hand on Vlimar's chest and shoving him backwards. The beings parted behind him to allow Noah to push him. "And your regs tie your hands on what you can do about it."

"Damn it, Noah," Amelia called at him, followed by cursing in a mix of languages. She moved quickly to take advantage of the opening created when the beings parted behind Vlimar, finally getting close to the two men. "He may not have been able to touch you for anything involving the prime directive, but that could be considered assault," snapped at her brother.

As she spoke, she placed herself between Vlimar and Noah, and her hand closed around her brother's Flying Spaghetti Monster universal translator. With a single fluid movement, she snagged the pin, and turned to hide that she was sliding it into a small pocket that wasn't exactly regulation on her uniform. She directed a sharp look at Vlimar as she moved out of his way, as if daring him to arrest Noah.

Vlimar, recoiling from the push, looked at Noah seriously. "I am placing you under arrest for obstructing a lawful investigation," he stated, looking quickly at Amelia. The fact that Vlimar did not arrest Noah for assault was perhaps meaningless as he could add the charge at a later time, but rather was telling that Vlimar had no intentions of pushing the matter higher than it should be. Noah just crossed the line, granted. But there was no need to add to an already volatile situation. The arrest for obstruction was only a tactic to remove Noah from the area, while a decent investigation of the circumstances of the crash and the alleged first contact was conducted, while being uninterrupted by a belligerent religious leader.

Vlimar then put his hand on Noah, quickly turned his arm into a joint lock and applied his restraints.

Noah tried to twist from Vlimar's grip, but despite Noah's larger size, the Frenchman had the advantage of training on how to effectively subdue a struggling person, and Noah had completely ignored all the efforts of his mother to try to teach him anything combat related. His eyes sought Amelia's, only to receive a head shake for his troubles. The little beings screeched and clicked, pressing closer.

"You know Dad's rule," was all she said. Even though she felt Vlimar was absolutely off base with his choice of what charge to threaten Noah with, she knew if she forced him to escalate it to assault, it would only make it worse for Noah. When he realized his sister wasn't going to bail him out, Noah quietly submitted himself to Vlimar's grip. The beings went quiet, watching him carefully.

Rael had moved positions to give support to both Waterhouse and PontBrillant, as well as get between the creatures and Robyn. Even with Noah in hand-cuffs didn't mean they were out of the woods yet, seeing as they didn't know how far these creatures would go to protect their messiah.

"The rest of you are welcome to join us on the Vindicator, as guests," Amelia addressed the others from Noah's ship, a look being directed to her away team to emphasize her statement. The little beings looked between Noah and his people. "Medical attention, food, and guest quarters will be made available to those who do. We can help you recover belongings from your ship once everyone is safely aboard."

Rael moved his hand from the Ka-bar hilt but still kept a defensive position between Noah, Vlimar, Amelia, and Robyn, still not sure how the creatures would react to that invitation.

Vlimar escorted Noah to the area behind the officers, clearing the native beings. He looked at Sørensen. "Get him to the ship and brig him," he stated. The young Ensign nodded and tapped her Combadge, getting teleported immediately. Vlimar turned and looked at the other officers. "PO Rayya and Ensign Maxwell, please organize evacuation for any who desire," he stated, then walking towards Amelia. "I will get back to organize everything. You are good?" he asked, seriously.

"I've got this," she said, narrowing her eyes at him a moment before turning her back to him. Arresting her brother for almost no reason, giving orders to her team, and then daring to ask if she's fine. The sooner he was back on the ship, the better. Her eyes traveled over her brother's people, and the smaller beings that had now spread among them.

"Those of you wishing to come aboard, please step forward," Amelia directed, and stepped closer to Ensign Maxwell. "If you could give those coming aboard a cursory once over, to make sure there's nothing we should call ahead to sickbay about."

Vlimar tapped his com badge and slowly disappeared in the blue mist. He was glad to return to the ship as well.

Slowly, hesitantly, a couple of the people stepped forward. A pair of humans. They looked to Amelia, and she smiled at them. A few more followed, as well as one of the little beings. It was quickly, though softly like one would shoo a cat, encouraged to go back to join the other beings.

"If you could stop right here, my colleague needs to do a quick scan," Rael said looking at the men who stepped forwarded. He then looked at Robyn and nodded. "Also commander, if it's okay I'll beam up near the shuttle. I need to pick up the probes. I figure having them fly through here will cause more damage."

Robyn smiled reassurance to the first two who had turned towards her. "Just a scan." she said slightly lifting her medtricorder so they could see that was all she had to hand. "Lets move over here...it wont take long."

They followed her a short distance and when encouraged to do so, sat down on a fallen log to wait in turn.A group of the little beings followed too but hung back and watched in silence.

"Once we finish here, I'll go with you back to the crash site," Amelia answered Rayya as she noticed the beings following Maxwell and her brother's people. She placed herself between them and the people waiting for the doctor's attention. "Please help me keep them back," she added, making soft noises and waving her hands to shoo them back.

After half an hour or so, Robyns job was completed. She crossed the small clearing towards the XO.

"All done, " she said " Nothing to worry about." She glanced back at the group then again to Amelia. " They need feeding up...a bit of TLC but they should all be ok and as of now they're good to go."

Rael helped the commander push back the small creatures, once all the scans were done he made sure he had all his things before making sure that the probes were heading back to the shuttle. He than waited for the commander before heading back to the shuttle.

It took time to get all the people beamed up who wanted to go, working with groups of six, since that's what the transporter pads could hold, and nearly 40 people total, though a few elected to stay behind for now. It had also taken some effort to keep the little beings from watching as they beamed out. Amelia had been tempted to pull out Noah's universal translator, but in the end, she decided that continuing to expose them to the technology would only make matters worse.

When the team finally headed back to the crash site and the little aliens didn't seem to follow, Amelia let out a sigh of relief and couldn't wait to get back to the ship.
