JL | Adm Red, Commo Ivanova, Capt Neyes, Cmdr Neyes - "Between Sun and Moon Pt. 3"

Posted on Wed Aug 10th, 2016 @ 10:40pm by Admiral Rochelle Ivanova & Fleet Admiral Blyx Red & Commander Tristan Neyes PhD. & Admiral Alexander Hark & Captain Landon Neyes

1,733 words; about a 9 minute read

Mission: Resurgere

With a nod of understanding, the Admiral managed to curb her own budding butterflies and brought the couple’s hands together, allowing their energies to combine by touch once more, “Your love is something that you both cherish, so much so that it's moved you join in the union of marriage and create a home together. Today, you dedicate your lives to giving one another happiness and support. To be certain, entering into the covenant of marriage is an act of deep trust and faith in the strength of your love. It would be a fool's error to base your marriage on the hope that your partner will change to become something they are not, or do something in the future that they do not already do today. Your marriage must be based on the heartfelt and sincere acceptance of one another, as you are, in each moment.

The pledge you make today expresses your devotion to one another and to the love you share, and the words spoken here will support your marriage if you are able to sustain your commitment through the inevitable hardships you'll face together in the future just as you’ve faced them in the past. Today, in the presence of your families and friends, you pronounce your love for each other and make a commitment that will define the next phase of your journey. We celebrate it with you, and wish you well.”

Rochelle couldn’t help but squeeze Landon’s hand, further establishing the fact that this was what she wanted… That the Admiral’s words rung true and prophetic to their cause. In response he did the same, soothing his thumb over the small portion of skin between her thumb and forefinger.

Allowing her touch to fall away from their hands, Blyx allowed her own to fold gently in front of her, leaving the couple to stand together without her as a brace. “I ask, Landon, that you repeat after me. I, Landon Irelle, protector of the symbiont Neyes, take you, Rochelle Andreevna Ivanova, to be my wife; to have and to hold from this day forward, to laugh with you in joy, to grieve with you in sorrow, to grow with you in love, and nurture you when you are ill, as long as I shall live.”

“I, Landon Irelle, host to Neyes, take you, Rochelle Andreevna Ivanova, to be my wife; to have and to hold from this day forward, to laugh with you in joy, to grieve with you in sorrow, to grow with you in love, and nurture you when you are ill, forever.” His words were spoken with an absoluteness. He meant every word.

“And now, Rochelle, I ask you to repeat after me. I, Rochelle Andreevna Ivanova, take you, Landon Irelle, protector of the symbiont Neyes, to be my husband; to have and to hold from this day forward, to laugh with you in joy, to grieve with you in sorrow, to grow with you in love, and nurture you when you are ill, as long as I shall live.” Part of the Admiral wanted to reach for her niece, to cup the young woman’s cheek in palm of her hand and explain just how proud she was, how proud her mother would have been. There would be time later, she knew, and for now she contained herself.

With a nod, the redhead soothed her tongue of her lips and repeated as asked, “I Rochelle Andreevna Ivanova, take you, Landon Irelle, protector of the symbiont Neyes, to be my husband; to have and to hold from this day forward, to laugh with you in joy, to grieve with you in sorrow, to grow with you in love, and nurture you when you are ill, forever.”

“May I please have the rings?” Blyx asked, unfurling a hand for the bearer to place them within her palm.

Zedd came forward, in his perfect little suit in perfect Trill style, and handed Blyx the ring lay pressed within their delicate box.

“Thank you,” The Admiral smiled and nodded in appreciation, holding up the shining bands in her open hand for all to see, “Since ancient times, the ring has been a symbol of the unbroken circle of love, with no beginning and no end. Love given freely has no giver and no receiver, for each is the giver and each is the receiver. May these rings always remind you of the freedom and power of this commitment you make here today.

Landon, placing this ring on Rochelle's finger, repeat after me, ‘Rochelle, as I give you this ring, I give you my promise, to honor you, to be faithful to you, and to share my love and life with you, in all ways, forever.’ “ Carefully she gathered the smaller of the two bands between her thumb and forefinger, offering it to the Captain with her unseen approval attached.

It was almost more than he could manage to say, not because he couldn't or didn't want to, but his composure was slipping. A lump threatened to rise in his throat, and he pushed past the welling tears of joy as he looked upon her. She was perfect, in every way, and it was all he could see. He managed to say the words, deftly sliding the ring onto Rochelle's finger, “Rochelle,” He rasped, smiling and clearing his throat, “as I give you this ring, I give you my promise, to honor you, to be faithful to you, and to share my love and life with you, in all ways, forever.”

“And Rochelle, placing this ring on Landon's finger, repeat after me, ‘Landon, as I give you this ring, I give you my promise, to honor you, to be faithful to you, and to share my love and life with you, in all ways, forever’.” Said Blyx, offering the diminutive Commodore the larger of the rings.

The weight of the new ring on her finger bore a hefty reminder that the union they had once shared had now transcended into something so much more. While they had pledged themselves to one another, the ring made it all the more real, all the more official… All the more right. Landon was cracking at the seams, overwhelmed by the conflagration of emotions building in his chest. Rochelle could feel it more than she could hear or see it, and it was all she could do to gather up the ring that would soon adorn Landon’s finger instead of reaching to cup his cheek in her palm. “Landon”, she spoke strongly, working to keep her voice strong for both of their sakes, “as I give you this ring, I give you my promise, to honor you, to be faithful to you, and to share my love and life with you, in all ways, forever.” Her hand slid over the back of his hand after the ring she bore slipped into place.

With the rings now properly placed in their rightful spots around the correct fingers, Blyx felt relief wash over her. No attacks, no explosions, no crazy interludes had come to pass. All that was left was her final spiel necessary to legally bind the pair together, forging them iron clad against whatever came next. She knew the words were just an added flourish and that the entire ceremony was nothing more than a token symbol of something that had come to pass long ago, but it was a necessity for the sake of more paperwork and records. Maybe it was necessary on another symbolic level; a great big giant middle finger hoisted and erected high for their enemies to see as a beacon in the black. “Landon and Rochelle, inasmuch as you have pledged yourselves, each to the other, and have declared the same in the presence of this company by the exchange of vows and the giving and receiving of rings, by the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife.” She had to contain herself from rushing through those words, jumping straight to the man and wife and shooing them off, scattering them to the four winds for their own protection, but she knew better. Instead she steeled herself with a smile and turned to Landon, “You may now kiss your bride.”

Kiss her, Landon did. His hands found their way to either side of her delicate face, cupping it and gently sliding his fingers under her jaw as he guided her lips to his. The feel of balmy satin against his mouth was finite and a relief of insurmountable proportions. It wasn’t so much relief that the ceremony was over, as it was relief that they had made it there. That they were whole. He loved her, more than words could adequately express, but now wed he knew the weight of his responsibilities were evergreen. He’d protect her, protect them, for the rest of his life and likely long into the next.

Rochelle knew it well, felt it all the same as she wrapped her arms around his neck and returned his kiss with her own. It was far from lewd, though hardly chaste. It was delicate and powerful, speaking of both the romantic and the carnal. It was possessive and gentle, all things spiraling together in perfect harmony and speaking to a fact that all things would be just fine so long as they remained side by side.

When their lips finally parted and the cheering subsided, Blyx ended her own applause to touch their shoulders, gently nudging them away from the altar to take their first steps as a married couple, “Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to present to you, the new Mr. and Mrs. Landon Irelle!”

No sooner did Landon and Rochelle take to flight, hand in hand, did their little audience erupt into applause, whistles, and cheers that left the little Firebrand’s blush renewing itself with vigor and Landon’s chest swelling with a sense of pride he hadn’t quite ever felt before.
