Mission: Are You Touched?
Location: Qo'Nos
Timeline: September 2010

The ship dropped out of warp just outside of the Qo'Nos defence network. Just outside of sensor range. Tapping on the console Kitaru cut the main engines and engaged low level impulse thrust. In the same motion he also vented plasma heat from the engines and shut down all non-essential systems onboard the modified freighter. The ship silently moved closer to the planet, running in effective silence and cold enough to slip through the various sensor nets surrounding the Klingon homeworld. The last think Kitaru needed was questions from prying Klingon traffic control.

Eventually the ship drifted unnoticed into a low orbit, so as to avoid proximity sensor sweeps. Kitaru could feel the atmospheric heat radiating inside the hull of the vessel, but with modifications to the armour plating he knew it could withstand such temperatures. Setting a scrambled transporter lock on the target destination Kitaru grabbed his back and within moments had materialised just outside of the compound. The building, for want of a better description could only be described as a fortress and loomed over the flat lowlands. Walled, heavily guarded with patrols and well-bred Targ hounds. Moving silently from his transport spot he took a vial from his pocket and pressed the hypo against his neck. Following that, he took the only device he was carrying and twisted it to the left before affixing it to his arm. Immediately his appearance changed to that of an aged Klingon warrior. There was a small fizzing as the holo-projector destabilised but Kitaru was able to tweak the settings further to ensure stability of the image.

He soon arrived at the main gate and was met by a brash young Klingon in traditional warrior garments. From beyond the threshold to the compound he could hear the singing and chanting in celebration of the son's glorious death in combat.

"Name"

"Koloth, General of the Second Attack Squadron" Kitaru said with a perfect voice manipulator and translator adapting his words.

The Klingon snarled and looked down at his padd checking for the name.

"Welcome" the guard said after a while and heaved his giant eight foot one frame out of the way to allow the disguised Kitaru to enter. As he passed through he was scanned for weapons, technology and for identity verification. Thankfully the complexity of the device and the injected material allowed him to pass the test and continue on with his assignment. He knew he didn’t have long. The real General Koloth had been caught up in a disturbance at the High Council according to local news and was apparently fighting the intruders with great courage and honour. Then, however, he would be on his way to this gathering. It wouldn’t take much for identity to be verified and then everyone would go on high alert for Kitaru, the imposter.

After feigning his way through the initial greetings and blood wide tankards Kitaru managed to slip away from the main crowd and moved throughout the lavish main building to the Hall of the Lost in the east wing. Pushing the giant and heavy door slowly open Kitaru stepped inside. The room itself was long and narrow, stone walls and floor and lavish decoration with trophies, armours and weapons lining the walls and in cases down the central path to the end monument. Some form of stone artefact depicting a great battle was half-illuminated by the crackling fire underneath it.
Kitaru moved quickly through the room, ignoring the other priceless heirlooms looking for the item he had been paid to take. While some would call him a thief, he believed his actions were justified. He never stole for the sake of stealing. He considered himself more of a liberator of historical knowledge. Eventually he laid eyes on what he had set out to obtain. In one of the furthest cabinets was a mek'leth blade, gold hilt and encrusted with a blood-red ruby. Ostentatious for a Klingon, but of significant importance. Legend had it that Kahless himself presented it to a noble warrior long ego during the birth of the empire. Now, however, it was here in the private collection of this thieving house.

Kitaru knew in the back of his mind he needed to be out of here as quickly as possible. It would be a serious crime to be caught at an important ceremony without being on the guest list especially if he was posing as one of their noble Generals. Not to mention how bad it would be if he actually got caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar. He looked around for a security panel on the wall and located it just to the right of the fire place at the end of the room. Moving quickly he started tapping on the panel, attempting a manual override of the security systems in the room in order to allow access to the cabinet. The hack was successful and on moving back to the cabinet he was able to open it and remove the blade without any problems. He smiled to himself looking over it; it was truly a thing of some beauty. The next step would be simple. Hide the blade within the holographic masking field and leave before the real Koloth turned up or anyone patrolled through this room and noticed the blade was missing.

As he turned a Klingon guard was stood in front of him, disruptor readied.

"You honourless dog! What do you think you are doing pointing a disruptor at me! Do you not know who I am?!" Kitaru spoke loudly hoping to bluff his way through the exchange.

"You look like Koloth, Son of Valkoh, General in the Klingon military. However, General Koloth was killed this evening in glorious battle so we know that cannot be true. Who are you?" the guard exclaimed.

Kitaru grimaced, the one thing he hadn’t even anticipated in all this had just happened. He knew he had to act quickly.

"I am from Klingon Intelligence, my orders are from the Chancellor and I shall not be discussing them with you"

The guard looked at the open cabinet to the right of where Kitaru was standing.

"Doubtful Klingon Intelligence would send you here to steal the blade of this Great House!"

Without any further opportunity for discussion the guard shot damaging the holo-field emitter on Kitaru's arm causing the projection to fizz out of existence.

The guard swore something about a lowly human and holstered his disruptor producing a blade. Clearly this was going to be personal. The guard charged at Kitaru who, being trained in various martial art forms was able to defend himself to some extent. The chaos of the fight ensued with the guard managing to cut Kitaru's leg numerous times. In what seemed like seconds it was abruptly ended when the guard, now flat on his back, yelled and threw the blade directly at Kitaru. Without thinking Kitaru used the cabinet to jump off to gain height and spun-kicked the blade back the direction it came. Hoping it would pin the guard down or remove the blade from the fight Kitaru had not anticipated the power of his kick with the injured leg and was shocked to see it land squarely in the Klingon's chest. The pink Klingon blood slowly seeping out the wound and onto the floor.

Kitaru stood, frozen for a moment realising what he had done. His eyes darted around the room looking for an escape as he realised alarms were ringing. He noticed the injury to his leg, face and arm and winced with the pain trying to ignore the bleeding. He had to get out. Moving as quickly as the pain would allow he turned into a corridor but was immediately met by an armed patrol. He turned frantically but behind him several of the guests stood, all armed. He was trapped, helpless.

An ageing Klingon with white hair came through the crowd of guests, limping slightly himself.

"You… human… dare break into my property and steal such an important artefact from under my nose. You murder one of my family in my home and think you can get away…" it was clear he was seething.

"I ought to kill you where you stand, watch as you snivel for your worthless life… however, I want to know why this blade, why on this night. You will be held in the cells and interrogated until you tell me everything I want to know. Then I will allow you to die… although maybe, you'll wish I had killed you on this night. Take him away!"

Without warning a stun shot was fired and Kitaru fell to the floor in a heap.
