Lansine and the rest of the senior staff on board had gathered in Robert's office to discuss the future of their relations with the Kennedy and the Romulans. From their vantage point, things were looking up, but they still weren't any closer to retreiving Captain Dar or the rest of the away team.

The Romulan Commander and the Kennedy team had each broken away separately to discuss what to do next. They were both under heavy guard as the Landon and the rest also had a discussion.

Neyes wasn't wasting any time. "So, Commander, what now?" Landon was still in the dark about Rob's master plan in all this. Hopefully he had one, because as of this moment, he was beginning to doubt this was going to end peaceably. Their talks weren't going smoothly, and he was getting the sneaking suspicion his headache was a communal experience. Everyone was on edge, and edgy people make edgy decisions.

Rob pondered the question for a moment before answering, "I've had enough of the Romulan's interference. We're going to act."

Landon turned to Williams, only half kidding. "Do you think the cap of fighters on patrol right now will be any use? Maybe we can storm them, pray they don't just execute the prisoners outright..." The fighters had been simply burning fuel out in the atmo. If there was a chance at using them for a rescue attempt thus far, they'd not crossed it.

"Too risky," Rob replied quickly. "Capellupo is still knocking out the details for an attempt to transport through the inhibitor field. We can't risk them killing our people when we are so close to getting them out."

"I tend to agree. Our best bet is to find a way to disable their scattering field. A tachyon pulse may do it, But it would take several hits. That would give them too much time to harm our crew."

Moving to the edge of the room near the large window, Neyes rubbed his forehead. "Alright. Act how? We can't make a move on the planet or they all die. Maybe. Can we communicate with the surface somehow?"

Perhaps we could use a frequency that their scattering field would not filter out. I believe the term was radio. If we are really lucky, the Romulans wouldn't think to monitor those bands." Williams replied.

Neyes' eyes squinted at Williams, "Those frequencies are tremendously low-frequency, Commander, even by the generations who used them regularly. A radio signal is practically blown on the wind. If the signal reached them at all they'd have no way to return the call. The Vindicator might be powerful enough to punch that through the atmo and interference on the surface. After its been pushed through a amp the size of our deflector." His eyes widened. "We need a relay."

"We could..." Rob began, only to be interrupted by Capellupo "I'm reading something. It's faint, but it's definitely there!"
