Lynda was walking, she needed to walk ok no she needed to run the corridors didn't seem very full so she made her way towards the marine Barracks right quick. Changing out of her flight uniform and into a pair of jogging shorts and sports bra with a tank top over it that stopped before her taunt belly. Lynda looked around as she tied her running shoes. Getting up and stretching her long legs pulling first one to her chest folding her leg so it bent at the knee and her upper leg pressed against her chest to stretch her leg out, then the next leg, before starting to run out of the Barracks where she normally slept to run along the corridors.
Unable to decide if which was the right answer she decided a run would help her, and well that's exactly what she was doing right now. Should she bump into anyone she did run around them giving a nod of acknowledgement as she did so. Dammit she was 26 years old she would be turning 27 in October how could she not be able to make a simple decision as this? Because it wasn't really very simple. Betray Captain Keggle to Captain Neyes or betray Captain Neyes to Captain Keggle, Right nothing simple about that. either way she would be pissing someone off. Captain Neyes is the Captain of the USS Vindicator. She reported directly to Captain Keggle and Captain King so if she dealt in Logic one would go to the Ships Captain right?
Landon walked through the corridor on his way back from grabbing a quick bite in the mess hall, then a stroll to loosen up. The kink in his neck was all but disappeared as he drank another cup of coffee. Given that he'd forgotten to eat anything for more than 36 hours, it had quickly become more problematic and uncomfortable than his lack of sleep. The briefing, and the status of Sol system had him distracted.
So naturally he didn't see the 1Lt as he rounded the corner on his way to the turbolift.
Howard managed not to entirely slam into him, and Neyes somehow avoided spilling his precious beverage across her. A few drips spotted the front of his tunic, and he stood, elbows up in surprise.
"Hi." He laughed quickly. "Going somewhere?"
"Captain!" She gasped then started to giggle as well. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to nearly kill us both with my run and well I was so busy thinking on what to do I didn't even see you..." She admitted honestly. "You know I dunno if this is someone telling me something or not, but I've been thinking a lot about what you've said since you left." She said frowning slightly then smiling at him again.
"Thinking is good I suppose," he said, still a little stunned.
She used her towel blot the few drops of coffee on his tunic without thinking really. "Well after you left, Captain Keggle called me into his office. I was expecting to get yelled at for crashing my bird." Continues to blot the coffee. "But the strangest thing happened instead. He congratulated me and called me one of the guys. I think he was trying to find out what you were talking to me about."
Neyes' found it odd the Lieutenant would think she'd be punished for 'crashing' her fighter after an order to land hard during an open battle, but dismissed it. "Did he actually ask what we were talking about? Or did you just get the feeling that's what he wanted."
"He actually asked. However the drinking and compliments was very odd behavior."
"So... He doesn't normally make you feel like, 'one of the guys'?" Landon asked, looking down at the spots remaining on his shirt.
"No he doesn't." Lynda frowned blotting the rest of the spots before she realized what she was doing and blushed dropping her hand with the towel to her side.
Landon brushed himself off a little and nodded, affirming he'd heard the lieutenant out. It wasn't all that suspect to hear the Flight leader had a drink with one of his pilots. Neyes internally rolled his eyes as he imagined them doing it on duty with a, 'we answer to no one,' kind of attitude. Lynda's suspicion might have been warranted, however, given the marine captain's sudden shift in attitude. It was at least worth looking into, and just the kind of behavior he was looking for.
"I want you to play along, Lieutenant. I'll talk with the Captain when we're through all this, but for now keep your ears open. Have another drink with the boys and hear what you can hear. If they say anything about Lieutenant Black, in Sickbay?... Then you let me know right away."
"Right." She said still blushing slightly, and yet she managed to give him a soft smile. "I should probably get back to the flight deck. I"m sure by now my bird should be out of the shop and I wanna look her over." She said with a nod...
Neyes began moving again, giving the Lieutenant a pilot nod. "Better get to work, never know when we're going to get the hell beat out of us again."
