Mission: In the Dark
Location: Marine Conference Room

".......alright our job is simple on this mission we're the babysitters I know this isn't our favorite of assignments but it's still important. And we're babysitting the scientist which means they're about as ready for combat as one of their experiments so keep your eyes sharp and do not under any circumstances allow them to wander." Ellis said looking at his Marines.

"If no questions moving onto the specifics. Because of the species refusing any use of technology past Earth's 16th century we're limited to that for weapons -- but I'm gonna be changing that so we don't get caught with our pants down." Ellis said with a smile. "We'll have two recon sniper teams using the latest recon snipers the OSOGs." He said setting one down on the table. "They'll act as our early warning systems they'll be up in four sniper nests we'll make in the trees."

"For the rest of us we'll have blades and weapons that look like early gunpowder weapons. But easier to load and far more accurate but combat is a last resort." Ellis said looking around the group, "we'll be going down in two runabouts piloted by our squadron's CO and XO. They'll also be in command of the squad guarding the LZ while myself and first lieutenant Black well be leading the escort squads."

Lynda listened closely to what was going to be the mission she was XO of she still wasn't use to that title really but she was XO and well she would have to make sure the CO's orders were dealt were given out. Much like the CO and XO of a ship but on a much smaller scale than the ships CO and XO, and she couldn't think of any kind of questions...

"Also every Marine well have a type II phaser with them hidden but with them at all times. This is your very last resort if it comes to that but again my expectations for combat are low but again this is the type of mission where shit hits the fan fast and hard." Ellis said, "now you all have a PaDD with intel on it memorize it. Any questions?"

Lynda decided to look over the PaDD again, she didn't have any questions at present if she thought of any she would ask Ellis at that point hopefully without annoying him to be honest...

"Alright good dismissed." Ellis said, "Howard remain behind." Ellis called out.

Great had she done something wrong already? What could it be this time? She wondered to herself as she thought back over the last few days to see if she could remember having done something she shouldn't.

"Take a seat again Brad you stay as well. So I see that Keggle made his choice for squadron XO." Ellis said sizing up the Marine they really never had met. Seeing as she was a pilot and he was in-charge of the ground pounders, "Keggle is a good man -- albeit a little chauvinistic, blunt with the truth and probably has some anger issues. But if you listen and allow him to teach you he'll turn you into a okay pilot to a great one same as a leader."

Lynda looked to Brad then back to Ellis managing to suppress the sigh of relief she almost let out considering that well she was still new to this job and any show of weakness (as she was told) would probably not help her at all. "I plan to listen and learn." She said though she still had misgivings considering what the Ships captain had asked her a while back. but she totally could see Keggle having anger issues. He was definitely chauvinistic in the way that he had treat her up giving her the XO post.

"Good -- I know this hasn't been the easiest of transitions but stick with it." Ellis said with a rare encouraging smile. "Alright dismiss lieutenant."

Lynda gave a nod and turned to leave giving Ellis a small smile in return.

"Brad you go where ever lieutenant Black goes. These are captain's orders. We need to play nice for awhile regain some good will with the squids. It'll piss her off but she'll also know why it's being done." Ellis said shaking his head.

"Of course." Brad said, "anything else?"

"No and good luck down there." Ellis said as Brad turned and left the conference room.
