Mission: In the Dark
Among those off boarding onto the Vindicator was a tiny Ferengi woman in a uniform featuring the gold of engineering. She was toward the front of the small group of transferring personnel, and quickly broke from the pack on the most efficient trajectory towards the nearest turbolift.
Further back in the crowd was a tall lithe young woman in a uniform of the drab gray of intel. Her red hair was tightly pulled into a braided bun above the nape of her neck, and a black stetson perched tilted forward on her head. A bat'leth rested along the length of her left arm, with the strap of a small duffel bag hanging from the shoulder under it. As her blue eyes followed the Ferengi woman down the corridor, she shifted her shoulder and it set the chain jingling on the nunchuks hanging part way out of her duffel.
As the Ferengi woman entered the turbolift, she tried to come to a stop and instead was set spinning by the large duffel that was nearly the same size as she was. The red-head's lip turned up at one corner as the turbolift door closed behind the Ferengi.
"Fat bottomed girls, you make the rocking world go round," she sang softly to herself. She pulled her hat off her head as she stepped aside to consider where she was headed, revealing a softly wrinkled forehead and faded spots framing her face. She chewed her lip as she considered if she should stow her belongings in her quarters, or if she should report directly to her department and see how she could be a help. What little she could gather on the way in was there was something big happening planet side, and it involved her former commander, one Rochelle Ivanova.
It'd been happenstance that she'd been assigned to keep an eye on the little Ferengi woman, who just happened to be entering the command structure of a woman Amelia enjoyed working under previously. Intel wasn't entirely convinced that Zola's story was legit, accidental time travel like that, into the middle of contested territory given the current events, was just a little too convenient. Was it luck, or intentionally done, that it happened to be a loyal Starfleet ship that found her shuttle instead of one of the UFP moth ball jokes? If Amelia happened to also be serving under a woman she liked as a side affect of this assignment, well, who could fault that?
As she was first and foremost officially here to keep half an eye on the Ferengi, Amelia decided that rushing to help her former commander might make the coincidence look too good. So she headed to find her new quarters and drop her stuff off before checking in with her new superior officer. As far as anyone knew, she didn't know what was going on anyways. Then once she checked in, it was bound to come up what was happening, and then she could volunteer to help if he didn't already have mind to order her to do so.
Amelia knew Ivonova was a strong, capable, and intelligent officer, it would be presumptuous to assume she needed Amelia to come save the day, wouldn't it?
