Mission: In the Dark
Sean settled down at his com screen, tugging at his Ireland rugby shirt as he settled into his chair. He'd had just had a good work out in the holodeck playing Rugby for the last hour, and he was looking forward to relaxing afterwards while talking to his gorgeous girlfriend.
Tea had only been back in contact for a few months, and already things felt normal again. He missed her horribly every time she was given some assignment she couldn't tell him about, but after the devastation of her breaking up with him when she was given the first of those assignments after the Griffin's decommission, he'd take the uncertainly of where she was and what she was doing, if it meant knowing she intended to come back to him in the end.
He opened the channel to call her up, knowing that she should be off duty by now, assuming nothing was amiss upon the Vindicator where she was posted. Things had been getting a little rough lately for the fleet, so there really was no telling sometimes. When the channel finally connected and he saw her face, he smiled wide.
"If'n that ain't a sight I could never tire of," he said, "Hello Gorgeous."
Back in her quarters Tea stripped out of her uniform, which she was still getting used to again. Seeing as her recent covert assignments didn't require her to wear one, except the assignment protecting the fake president. "Ah.....much better." She said as she stood there in a white cotton tank and white lace panties.
Just then her console beeped, "bloody hell!" She moaned forgetting she set her communications to activate whenever she spoke when a communique was coming in. Jumping at the sound of the voice, "Sean.....everything okay?" She asked forgetting what she was wearing as she walked over and took a seat.
"Everythin's fine," he returned, a soft frown on his lips. "I could ask th' same of you. You gave quite a jump."
Sighing, she didn't mean to jump or really even snap, but the beating by the Marines when they first learned of her still was fresh in her mind. "Sorry love.....I'm fine." She quickly added as she covered up some the scars that were still visible.
Her movement drew Sean's attention, and he frowned deeper as he noticed what she was trying to hide.
"What happened?" He looked at her like he wanted to crawl through the com channel and hold her because of what he saw. He sat forward in his chair, as that was the best he could do.
"Nothing happened, I'm fine!" This time Tea really snapped.
"Right," Sean said softly, sitting back in his chair. "I only ask 'cause I love ya, and it worries me to see you hurt," he explained gently.
"I can take care of myself....but thank you for caring. And you know I love you too." Tea said hoping that she sounded more calm and less like a bitch.
"I know you can take care of yourself," Sean allowed with a sigh, "but it doesn't keep me from worrying when something's obviously wrong. But if'n you don't want to talk about it... tell me about something good happening."
How sad was this that she couldn't even come up with something happy. Yes seeing Sean was happy but in her mind that didn't count so she just shrugged.
Sean frowned again, but with distance and only a com channel connecting them, it made it hard to do anything. There had to be something though. "We should take some leave together, if we can..." he suggested.
"We can try." Tea said shrugging, "but with all the unstableness I doubt we'll be heading to any Federation facility for fear of arrest or death by our brethren."
"This whole situation's a bit shite," Sean insisted. "I still don't know what's safe and what's not, but Pond's been more than a little off lately and I think it has something to do with it." He chewed his lip. "I'd just like if'n we could go somewhere together, before it got much worse."
Amelia. She missed that women something fierce. Not only for her advice, but for the fact she was her friend and making friends didn't come easy for Tea. "I know, I know, but to be perfectly honest the command team of the Vindicator is MIA."
"I'm sorry t' hear that. I hope they're found safe, and soon," Sean insisted. "Ivanova is your XO, right?" He remembered the fiery petite red-head, who Pond seemed to have bonded with a biteen, from the Griffin.
"Yeah she is." Tea said not really knowing the women, as she never really got to know her or even really spoke to her.
"I'm sure she and your Captain'll be back on the ship in no time," Sean insisted, even though he knew he couldn't lie to save his life. He still wanted to believe. "We can talk about leave once the situation's resolved, if'n ya like."
"I think that would be for the best." Tea said again wondering why she was acting and sounding like a bitch. It had been months since she and Sean have been able to talk. She should be thrilled and yet she was feeling annoyed by the whole situation.
"I obviously caught you at a bad time," Sean observed, taking in the look that crossed Tea's face. "We'll talk when you're not so knackered." He gave her a half smile. "I miss ya, gorgeous."
"Sean.....I do miss you and love you." Tea said wiping a tear away. "This, this is just tough."
"And I want nothin' more than to take you in me arms, and make it all better," he insisted with a soft smile. "Love ya, gorgeous."
"Talk to you soon. Love you too." She said giving him a small smile before cutting the channel. Leaning back into her chair she just sighed. Frustrated with the situation and herself for how she handled it.
On the other end of the closed channel, Sean sighed. He was worried about Tea, and how closed off she'd been. He knew he couldn't force her to talk to him, it usually only caused her to hide more, but he wished there was something he could do.
