Mission: In the Dark
Amelia looked at the PADD a long moment as she processed that she'd held her hand out to shake, and instead she had a PADD placed into it as someone was reporting for duty to her. She snorted in amusement, directed a look towards the yeoman who had a smirk growing on his face as he'd caught Amelia's look of surprise.
"Very good, Lieutenant," Amelia returned, her eyes skimming the contents of the PADD. Ebonheart was joining in security, and everything seemed in order. Amelia smiled. "I apologize for not being able to connect you with your department head, but we had a last minute transfer of the previous chief, and I think he left on the ship I came in on. I'll see your paperwork gets to the right person though, if you want to settle into your quarters?"
"Oh." Chloe said her tail flicking with annoyance at the unorganized system so it seemed. "I haven't exactly been giving quarters yet." Chloe said with a slight smirk. Her padd had information on it about her time as the Chief of Security on the USS Atlantia.
Amelia made eye contact with the yeoman. "Cecil can take care of your quarters for you. Normally we'd have at least an acting security chief while we were selecting the new one, but given what the command staff had been through, they've had more pressing matters to attend to. I'm sure that once things settle down again, and the command staff is put to rights again, anyone who's qualified will be considered for the position and the best candidate will be selected for the job." Amelia resisted the urge to shake her head. She was going to have to start taking her meals in her quarters until this whole situation was resolved if this sort of thing kept up.
"I look forward to that, however I think I will find my quarters now, I'm sorry for disturbing you for your lunch." Chloe said with a nod and a flick of her tail turning to head back to the turbolift.
Amelia exchanged a look with Cecil before he turned and darted after the retreating Security Officer. Then she sat down at the table with her soup again.
Cecil caught up with Chloe outside the mess, putting his nose in his PADD again. "Let's see what's available in the way of quarters." His eyes scanned the PADD as he darted forward to page the turbolift. The doors didn't open right away, and he continued to read his PADD. "Does deck seven sound okay to you?"
"Yeah that should be fine." Chloe said with a soft smile noting his nose in the padd wondering if there was any interesting reads. When the turbolift doors opened she stepped inside waiting for him.
He followed her directly inside, tapping at his PADD a moment as the doors closed behind them. As he continued to poke through the PADD, the turbolift finally chirped at them. "Junior Officer's Quarters, section aft," he directed it, and the turbolift hummed to life. He finally looked up at her from the PADD and held it behind his back. "What do you like to do in your free time, Chloe?"
"Oh um." She didn't know if she wanted to admit anything dangerous. she didn't know what anyone would think of her adrenaline addiction. "Well I like space diving, rock climbing, horse racing, racing." She said to name a few things she likes. deciding not to mention that she preferred doing all that with the safeties off.
"I've tried some rock climbing, but haven't had a chance to do it lately. Maybe I should give that another try," Cecil returned, and paused a moment. The turbolift arrived at deck 7, and Cecil headed out with half a glance over his shoulder to make sure Chloe was following. "Perhaps we could go climbing together some time?"
"Perhaps we could." She said that natural purr on her words still as she followed him curious about the quarters. Her stuff should have been beamed to the ones he's selected if those were going to be her quarters. At least that was her hope.
He approached a set of doors, and his fingers tickled the controls to make them open. "Before I leave you to settle in, please make sure everything's in order," he said, standing to one side to let her enter.
Chloe stepped into her quarters found her things already beamed there, they were good, they were hers. "I don't share them with anyone?" She asked even as a black little cat came out and rubbed against her leg meowing. Gem named for the white diamond on her forehead looked up with her golden eyes at Chloe.
"We're a large enough ship, we only make non-coms and lower ranking officers share. These are all yours," he smiled at her, standing politely at the door because he hadn't been invited in. His eyes fell to the little cat that rubbed at Chloe's ankles. "Beautiful cat."
"I named her Gem for the white diamond on her forehead, would you like to enter?" She asked looking up from Gem to Cecil. It was nice to have a friend already on the ship.
Cecil grinned, stepping inside Chloe's quarters. He bent over, holding his hand out to see if Gem would come to him. "How long have you had her?"
Gem meowed at him and moved closer to sniff him. "I've only had her a month, I rescued her from a couple of idiots trying to tease her." Chloe said remembering the back alley fight she'd gotten into for that little cat. she still had the scar on her side from the knifing she'd taken that had only increased the adrenaline rush.
"That is so sweet of you to rescue her," he said, looking up at her a moment before he directed his attention back to the cat. He cautiously reached to scratch at Gem's neck just below her ear.
Gem meowed and turned her head into the petting and scratching closing her eyes the only sign that she was enjoying herself. well until she fell over and rolled onto her back slightly.
