Mission: Are You Touched?
It had been a bit since Rochelle had chosen to make her appearance known in the lounge, but the lure of fresh chicken salad had won out. The concocted wraps had quickly become a favorite of hers. With the crew engaging in various tasks concerning the ship, the refugees and the planet, the lounge was packed with patrons scrambling for a quick bite before being hurtled off towards whatever task it was that waited for their urgent attention. "Enjoy your time on Qo'noS, Ensign?" The Captain asked a young woman dressed in security gold.
"I did, thank you!" Lily said as she continued tapping. She recognized the voice but could not put her finger on who it belonged to, so she looked up and noticed it was the captain. "Captain, sorry, I didn't realize it was you!" Lily said as she stood and saluted her superior.
"Shhh." Rochelle held up her hands and ushered the woman to relax, "At ease, Ensign, at ease." It was part of the job that left her both amused and concerned, the younger crew still startled at her appearance as if they half expected her to rend them limb from limb. Her vicious reputation, it seemed, preceded her even if she only bit when the situation called for it. "We're just two people waiting for a table for lunch right now." She winked, trying to further settle the young officer.
"Of course, sorry!" She replied, tapping a few buttons on her Padd and saving the work she had done before locking it. "So, how is everything on the bridge at the moment?" She asked.
With a shake of her head, the Captain dismissed the nervousness of the ensign before her, "As well as can be expected given the nature of this mission. Search and rescue can be a little..." Her nose wrinkled as she searched for the right word, "dicey."
"I can imagine, what about you, how are you doing at the moment?" Lily asked as she took a sip from her drink.
"Me? I'm doing pretty well. Thank you for asking." Rochelle smiled warmly, "And what about you? How is security treating you?"
"Well, you know how it is, they work you hard, but it's all worth it in the end!" Lily answered, returning the captains smile. "I should be used to it really, I've always been worked hard."
Rochelle chuckled lightly and nodded, "I can empathize with that sentiment, Ensign, honestly I can. The good news is that it only gets more complicated with time served and greater responsibilities." She teased.
"Well I would hope so Captain, I wouldn't want to have to little to do, you know me, I love working!" Lily gave a small laugh and gave a wink towards the Captain.
The diminutive redhead nodded and was about to say something, some quip about Security and work and starships when her combadge chirped and the muffled voice of her executive officer grumbled something about Klingons and meetings. "I'm on my way, Commander." she responded and cast an apologetic look towards Charlson.
"Enjoy lunch, Ensign. Duty calls." She explained lightly, turning to make her way towards the bridge, "Don't let Commander PontBrillant work you to the bone!" she called out behind her. Charlson, while nervous, would someday be a great asset to the ship. Of this she was almost certain.
Lily watched the Captain as she walked away from her. She hoped one day she could be as good as her superior, but for now she sat at a table and ordered her meal. She hoped security wasn't called until she'd finished eating.
