Mission: Are You Touched?

Holy Marinara — to steal a phrase from Noah — could that have been more of a mess? My brother in the middle of a prime directive cluster fuck, Vlimar insisted on arresting him, and this was my first away mission I've lead. The only way it could have been worse is if one of my team had died. Thankfully, the aliens weren't hostile, so besides projectile seed pods giving a bit of a workout to the shield generators that Vlimar had brought along, and deployed without checking with me first, they weren't a problem.

First thing I did, once we were back on the ship and all the after away mission details were handled, was head back to my quarters and open an encrypted channel to Daddy. I didn't bother with our normal solitaire encryption, I went more conventional, and he expressed his surprise over this once we were connected. Once I gave him the run down of where exactly I'd found Noah, and why he was sitting in the Vindicator's brig, he understood why I didn't waste time playing with the cards.

The good news is, Mama wasn't around to get upset; she'd managed to get authorized to take her fighter prototype out for a test flight. Daddy'll tell her later when she gets back. The bad news for Noah is Daddy is furious. It doesn't matter that Noah's a civilian, he was raised understanding the fleet and the ideals it upholds, so while he may not be legally obligated to adhere to the prime directive, Daddy thought he'd been made to understand why it was such a fundamental cornerstone to fleet regs. I certainly don't want to be around for that conversation, Daddy's calm and cold anger always unsettles me, especially since it surfaces so infrequently.

We didn't have much to talk about beyond that, so we wrapped up the conversation pretty quickly. He did ask after Dani, and while I know he wasn't happy with the vague answer I gave, he could tell there was a reason why I was being vague and didn't pursue it. He did figure out she wasn't on the ship anymore, and asked me to relay his best wishes to her. I promised I would, and I'll do that just as soon as I have time to hit the holodeck. For now, there's probably a briefing coming, so sleep is next for me.
