Mission: Romulan Ale.. I mean Aide
Location: Romulan Colony

The small Romulan colony was not entirely without functioning technology. Among other things like weapons, heaters and simple computers for record keeping and short range communication, they did have one working shuttle.

Doctor Lovok was in fact meeting the shuttle as it landed to make sure that the crew was in good condition. That shuttle worked but it was not the best quality and he had concerns about radiation exposure and other impacts on the body.

He barely got a chance to say a word when the young pilot jumped out and skipped right past him, "My apologizes Doctor, I need to speak with the Governor right away!"

Well Lovok wasn't going to let the young man get away that easily so he followed him to the Governor's officer.

Governor Sov'aal had just finished his 14th letter to a family member of a deceased colonist. He looked up in shock as the two men burst through the doors to his office. "Doctor, when I told you I had an Open door policy, I didn't envision it quite so hard on the doors themselves." he said before noticing the pilot with him. "Who is this?"

The young pilot didn't wait for introductions, "Governor... while I was out I picked up a ship. A warp signature, a few million kilometers outside the system. A big one."

Doctor Lovok looked at the man with surprise and curiosity, "You are certain?"

Ships came through his area infrequently at best which was why they were having so many supply issues. Even so by the look on the young man's face this still seemed like more than a well timed merchant vessel. A warbird

"Is it one of ours?" The governor asked. "If not have they made any attempt to contact you, Or. Show any indication that they are responding to the distress call?"

The pilot shook his head, "They did not send any signals but I monitored the ship for a while. It was getting closer. The sensors on the shuttle are not good enough to get a picture of what it was."

The doctor reached out for the chip and took it to the Governor's station to plug it in and bring up the reading. He was no warp theorist but he'd been around, "This is not a Romulan ship."

"It looks too clean and uniform to be Klingon, and the pattern is completely different from what Gorn use. " Sov'aal added. "So that Leaves Federation, Breen or Cardassian. None of which would be my first choice for aid. " He pressed a key on the console on his desk. a moment later another individual walked in. "Colonel, Make sure that the militia is prepared. it would seem we have a possible response to our distress; however the intentions of the would be aid cannot as yet be determined."

The Colonel looked at the Governor for a moment, "We have few options available to us, Governor." he said quietly, "And if they mean us harm we have nothing to stand against an armed ship in orbit."

Sov'aal's face turned very stoic. "I am fully aware that our defenses are limited Colonel." He hated how the Military, even a commander of a rag tag civilian militia insisted on telling him the obvious. "I would prefer not to show that our colony is as disastrously understaffed and under defended as it is. This may not be the Empire, but I will be damned if I simply hand anyone the permit to do as they please here. We are still Romulan and until our honor is so disgraced that we can no longer say that, I expect you to offer useful suggestions. Do I make myself clear? ... Now that being said, please be so kind as to offer the suggestions you mentioned." Sov'aal said with a pleasant enough smile.

The man straightened, "We'll be ready, sir."

The Doctor looked back to the monitor, "It won't be long before they get here. Mid day at most." he looked to Sov'aal, "I'll choose to be optimistic and begin preparing a list of supplies we need. Perhaps we'll be fortunate."

Governor Sov'aal nodded his head. "Lets Hope their intentions are benevolent then. keep me informed." He nodded to the men.
