Romulan Kerfuffle

Mission: Romulan Ale.. I mean Aide
Location: Colony - Tunnels

With all lights off and a very slow pace the team of naval and marine officers edged ever closer to the generator the Romulan colony had so well hidden up to this point.

It was not heavily guarded but the Romulans were spread around too much to hit them all at once which made Dar pause to have a quick conversation with King about their options.

Looking at the Romulan set-up, "well the one thing they've going for them is that everyone here is gonna have to be responsible for taking one down if we want this fast and quick and no reinforcements." Ellis said wiping some sweat from his forehead.

"Okay here's the plan myself, Sarah and Dirk (other Marine) well take the perimeter. Once those three fall you and the lieutenant here have to move fast and subdue the inner guards cause once they see the outer line fall they're calling for backup." Ellis said looking at the Captain and lieutenant.

Olan glanced back to Alexia for some kind of affimation that she understood their role in this.

Taking a big gulp Lexi just nodded, "yea......yeah I got this."

Dar looked back to Ellis and nodded, "We'll be ready."

"Alright good." Ellis said looking at Lexi and just nodding and giving her a reassuring smile. He than looked at Sarah and Dirk and nodded for them to move and get in position with nods from both of them getting into position Ellis held up his hand and counted to three with his fingers. And like if they were sharing one brain they all fired at the same time hitting each of their respected targets knocking them out.

Olan tapped Alexia on the shoulder and moved out to do their part. Together they managed to knock out all but one of the Romulan's guarding the generator.

That Romulan fortunately did not have a weapon on him but he was quick enough to tackle Dar, sending them both to the dirt as they struggled.

"Damn't!" Ellis said seeing Dar on the ground and a Romulan on top of him. Pulling his phaser pistol out he rushed over and pushed the gun onto the Romulans head, "I would consider you next move carefully." Ellis said.

"I would think we all should," the words came from behind the near wall. A moment passed before a new group of Romulans emerged, Aerv at their lead. The Romulan hadn't met with Dar or any Vindicator crewman outside of Commander Lansine, but from he and his group's body language and weapons pointed at the Romulan in the dirt it appeared they were different than the Romulans the Captain and the Vindicator had grown to know. "We wouldn't want anyone unnecessarily hurt."

Sarah and Dirk re-trainined their weapons onto the new group of Romulans knowing they were hopefully out numbered. "You're the ones responsible for keeping us planetside after we come and help you? It's a interesting way of saying thank you." Ellis keeping his pistol on the Romulans head knowing even with it on the lowest setting it would instantly kill him.

Aerv frowned, "Ah, my human friend, I'm afraid you don't quite understand what's going on here," he turned to Dar. "Captain Dar, I apologize for our rather abrupt arrival but I can guarantee you we mean you and your shipmates no harm."

"Then lower your weapons." Ellis growled not about to lower theres.

Dar moved out from under the Romulan who tackled him and allowed one of the marines to take him. He stood, brushed himself off and then finally looked over to Aerv, "Who are you?"

Aerv waved his men off and gestured for them to lower their disruptors. "I, Captain, am the key to your little predicament." Aerv allowed himself to smile, though it was obvious the human man flanking the Trill Captain was a quick finger flex away from killing him. "I am the reason you are here, the reason this colony has been 'poisoned' the man responsible for the inevitable fall of our local governor." He didn't expect the Federation officers to comprehend everything he was saying, the political complexities of their entire situation had already proven hard enough to explain to Mr. Lansine, and even then they had had much more time to discuss details. With a weapon pointed at his head and a Starfleet Captain already on edge, it wasn't likely the Starfleet group would grasp his people's struggles.

They would, however, understand their common goal.

"The power generator, I take it you've come to destroy it?" Aerv asked, eyeing Dar, but ever vigilant of the other man's weapon's aim.

Olan took a moment to make an attempt to evaluation Aerv. Romulans were not always the easiest to read but this one did seem to be on the level, even though the idea of poisoning an entire colony of your own people was a bit too extreme for Olan. Regardless of any disagreement he might have with their methods it seemed they had a common goal currently.

"Yes. We are," he glanced over to the generator then back to Aerv. "You as well?"

The Marines continued to train their weapons on their Romulan guests while Lexi collected their weapons and laying them near Ellis.

"Then I suggest you adjust your scanning devices to the high thalaron band," Aerv said calmly. The last thing he wanted to do was escalate their confrontation with mention of the infamous biogenic weapon. Starfleet types still considered the technology barbaric, which considering their two people's history with the radiation made perfect sense. Hopefully they'd be able to see past old transgressions and listen to what he was about to propose.

"The colony is powered by a set of thalaron generators," he paused and allowed the words to soak. "If you destroy one I'd recommend you do from a distance, Captain." He smiled, this time more devilishly. "That is, unless you have a fondness for molecular restructuring."

Olan felt his stomach churn at the mere mention of thalaron. He forced his voice to a level pitch, "You have two.. thalaron generators on this planet? Are you insane?"

He raised his hand after a second of thought, they had to stay on point, "We'll address that later. Right now all we need to do is shut down the scattering field over the colony."

Aerv frowned, disappointed in the Starfleet officer's low opinion of him and his cause. "Captain, I have had nothing to do the implantation or maintenance of this colony's generators. I, in fact, have worked to disable them. It was not till your arrival such a possibility might be attained," he paused, realizing he had drifted off topic. "But that is neither here no there, Mr. Dar. We are here to help you. Let me prove that to you." He motioned for one of his men to join him at the front of their small company. The smaller Romulan man hustled through the small crowd and presente Aerv with a black device.

"Captain, this is our solution," Aerv's smile had returned. "Unlike conventional weapons that would require a sustained burst of energy to disrupt the generator's core, we have created a work around. One that will allow us to disable them, and by proxy, the scattering field, remotely."

"What is the risk of spreading thalaron radiation using this method?" Dar asked, eager to get the field down so the Vindicator could beam the dozens of her crew that were still down on the planet.

Aerv's smile once again dissipated, "That my human friend, is none of your concern."
